And far from the last vintage Brandon moments. "East Side Story," the most recent episode I re-viewed, is full of them.

I have always de-SPISED Brandon telling Dylan sotto voce, "She's a virgin, man." As though, if she weren't, Dylan would be free to treat Brenda as callously as she liked. It's just so condescending and presumptuous. Vintage Brandon, in other words.

Haven't seen these in a long time, but SoapNet will be caught up to this point soon. They're running two eps a day Monday-Friday.

I forgot what a complete jerkass buffoon Steve was in the beginning. I never cared much about his character -- maybe this is why!

I remember that during this time, there was a strong push to educate teens about HIV/AIDS, and how to protect oneself from it. I was a high school freshman in 1990-1991, and our school had an AIDS awareness night that students and parents were supposed to attend together. I was 14, so it was totally embarrassing to sit through it with my mom, who has never been the "let's talk openly about sex" type, but it was extremely informative. I think my mom learned a lot from the program, and I did too.

It's too bad most schools aren't allowed to have these classes anymore. TV shows are going to have to pick up the slack in teaching today's kids about the importance of condoms and such. I can't remember many recent examples of TV shows that featured explicit discussions of birth control and STD prevention. It doesn't have to be all "the more you know" style -- it's easy enough for it to come up in conversation.
