HBO Dumps "Inside the NFL"
Posted February 6th, 2008 by Rich Heldenfels
Here is today's announcement:
For the past 31 years, HBO Sports has aired INSIDE THE NFL, establishing it as one of the premier football studio programs on television.
HBO Sports President Ross Greenburg, who joined the network’s sports division one year after the debut of INFL, announced today that the season finale of INSIDE THE NFL, which is set for Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008 and will recap the New York Giants Super Bowl victory, will mark the final edition of the program on HBO.
“Inside the NFL has been a hallmark program for three decades on HBO,” said Greenburg. “It has been a terrific franchise. But the television landscape has changed quite a bit over the last 30 years and we have to recognize the realities of the business. I’m not sure we had more than one competitor when the show launched in 1977.
“We wish NFL FILMS, our partner for the past 31 years, all the best with continuing the great tradition of INSIDE THE NFL.”
INSIDE THE NFL airs tonight at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT & 9:00 p.m. CT on HBO.
I used to be a faithful viewer of the program but have drifted away over the years. Part of that stems from my watching less TV than I used to, part from the plethora of other NFL programming out there, from broadcast to cable to radio sports-talk. It hasn't felt as if I had to see "Inside the NFL" to complete my requirement for coverage.

In all honesty. it really has not been the same since they booted Len and Nick. With this and The Wire ending, I have a reason to cancel HBO!

I LOVE Inside The NFL, so, in a manner of speaking, this SUCKS.
Len Dawson and Nick Buanticant (I know that's the wrong spelling) RULE.

This really blows. Growing up with that music just gets you psyched about the season in general. Too bad HBO, maybe it's time to get rid of you as a pay channel.
