If You're Still Wondering Why the Writers Are Striking…

Posted November 7th, 2007 by Rich Heldenfels

This video from the staff of "The Office" explains it about as well as anyone has. Note how much work they did without compensation for the sake of "new media." (Thank you to TV Tattle for posting the link.)

Definitely puts it into good perspective for me.

I should've realized that The Office, which features a number of WGA members in its cast (Steve Carell, BJ Novak, Mindy Kaling, Paul Lieberstein, and Michael Schur), would shut down pretty early on.

And the truly sad part about this is, I am sure there are executives at NBC this very moment who are wondering if there is a way they can put that video into the Season Four DVDs if this strike ever gets resolved . . .

As much "new media" content that NBC shoves down their viewers throats, they honestly should be ashamed. They're making money on the Dwight Shrute bobbleheads - they can give a little back. And, considering that the majority of this cast writes, directs, casts (Hello, Phyllis!) this show, I wasn't surprised.
