Saturday Morning, Friday and Thursday Nights

Anyone care to comment on last night's "Friday Night Lights"? Are we in better territory than at the start of the season, or worse?
As for Thursday, was that the worst "Office" episode ever or what?
Also, in case you missed them, you can link here to my reviews of "Things We Lost in the Fire" and "Gone Baby Gone."
Getting back to "The Office," it was draggy, overly somber, redeemed only by Jim's look in the stairwell as he told Dwight about his feelings for Pam. And part of a not-great night overall. Best part of "My Name Is Earl" was "Respect the Meat" (which has been available for re-viewing over at NBC.com), but the other stunt beats were only so-so. "30 Rock" started well (liked Tracy's happy "I'm whipped" speech) but floundered; nothing really for Steve Buscemi to do, and no matter how hard and well he performed, Baldwin couldn't save the cookie-jar story.
So is it just me, or was that a really blah round of comedies?

I think this was the best FNL episode of the season so far, although it still has its flaws. Carlotta has got to go and, as much as I love Riggins, Lyla always puts me to sleep. Buddy was in classic form. Also, I want my Julie back, please. Sheesh.

I have yet to watch Earl or FNL, but I have to agree about The Office. I have to think that had this week's episode aired 20 years ago, NBC might've billed it as "A very special episode of The Office" in the commercials. The Michael stuff was just very weak.

Rich-
I don't advcate the firing of individuals, but someone at CBS needs to answer for Viva Laughlin and Moonlight. With Hugh Jackman, I was hopeful for the show, but what was with the Sing Along? Hugh can actually sing, so why not let him? And a murder mystery. How cool would this show had been had it played out as a family drama rather than pseudo ganster movie.
As for Moonlight, I have seen two episodes and all I can think of is Angel. They have even copied it down to the smirky confidant (Doyle/Josef) and the insipid blond (Kate/Beth) and the brooding hero. I know CBS is looking for a companion to Ghost Whisperer (which deserves kudos for not following a weekly formula), so how about a third season of Joan of Arcadia (if anything to get Wentworth Miller out of Prison Break!)
