Since I've made clear my admiration for Barry Corbin and Frances Sternhagen as Brenda's parents on "The Closer," I'll try not to belabor the point here. …
Still, they were the most enjoyable element in Monday's telecast, and gave Jon Tenney as Fritz a chance to show some different moves. But I think the episode pushed the parental involvement a little too hard — hard to believe Brenda would have let them into the meeting with the doctor.
Not a strong episode overall, though, with the killer too easily tagged under the Least Likely Suspect theory: Find the person who is introduced but then gets the least screen time and bingo, you've solved the case.
I gave "Californication" a second chance and I think I'm done. I mean, does anyone out there think Hank/Duchovny is as irresistible as the show keeps insisting?

Yes, i think that Duchovny's character is HOT!!!!!!!
I think Californication is terrific. It's smart, funny and gutsy.
Duchovny is perfect as a dissolute writer who loves his daughter and ex-girlfriend and wants to get his family back. His big secret is that he has family values despite his behavior. He's a jerk with a heart of gold.
Keep watching. It's great.
