Remember what happened with "Playmakers" on ESPN? One season, and NFL pressure kept a second one from happening. And, since ESPN still has football and is a corporate sib of ABC, the NFL has ABC's ear as well.

Thanks for the Fooball Wives update. With a little help from the very informational Digital Spy website in England, I was able to get a little more of the story in regards to the NFL's possible concerns over the show. Why does this not surprise me?

A three-season pickup is pretty respectful, even if the seasons are relatively short. And considering that I get a lot of questions about the caveman commercials, plenty of people have paid attention to them.

Half-season reality shows, or series that a network has little confidence in, typically get 13-episode orders. Lost gets 16. How is that showing any respect to the most-original program in TV history?

Also, people refer to the Cavemen, based on the "popular Geico commercials." In what world are those commercials "popular?"

I had thought ABC was working on an American version of Footballers' Wives, with Lucy Lawless in the pivotal Tanya Turner role. Might they be saving that for mid-season?

Actually, the order for "Lost" is better than "just over a half season" — 16 per year, as opposed to a traditional order of 22. And "Heroes" is only one season old, so it hasn't had as much of a chance to turn off fans as "Lost" has had in three seasons of frequent annoyance.

What can you say about a network that hypes "Cavemen," and cuts the order of their most-buzzed about show (and yet another that ABC has mishandled) to just over a half-season order of episodes for the next three years? Like we're supposed to throw a party over that??

Contrast that with NBC recognizing the similar cult-hit it has with Heroes, and giving fans more of what they want, with Heroes: Origins.

Just wondering, did anyone ASK for Cavemen? ABC continues to be an embarrassment to the industry, unfortunately.
