Thanks, Kay and Fred. I still enjoy the work. But between what I need to do and what I want to do, it can be a little rough at times. Today (Sunday) I had a fistful of things in the paper -- but I still don't want to feel that the blog is being neglected. So we'll all press on together.

I echo Mr. Farrar thoughts. You are juggling a lot of plates, and doing a fine balancing act. It's appreciated, whether you 'hear' it or not.

The ad in yesterday's paper showing the Beacon employees who either retired or stepped down was heartbreaking! I've literally grown up with many of those fine writers. It's a business, yes, but it's a shame and only adds pressure to the staff left to compensate.

Please, Rich, don't let it overwhelm you. The quality of your work is always superb and we are lucky to still have you.

It seems impossible to me that you can do the jobs of (it seems like!) three or four people.

Those of us who have enjoyed you for some time know how much time you put into your television work alone. Personally, I have found your insights to be among the best of any TV writer in the country, so I am sad your view now has to encompass so much more territory

But we also have to be realists about the industry which empoys you, Rich. Times are tough flor newspapers (to put it politely), and they don't saeem to be getting any easier soon.

While I am sad we get to see so much less of your TV work here and in the paper, I find I am more delighted than ever when I come to your blog and find a new entry.

Absence does make the heart go fonder!

That was probably the most squirm-generating episode of The Office yet. A very similar situation happened in the office where I used to work when we absorbed employees from another office, right down to one of the new employees quitting on his first day and my boss' subsequent reaction ("Well, we didn't want him, anyway" or something along those lines). Yet, it also reminded me a bit much of the Slough/Swindon merger on the British show. But, I guess there's only so much you can do with that premise. It still seemed mostly-fresh.
