"Crossing Jordan" Bumped Again
Posted September 28th, 2006 by RD Heldenfels
Last spring, NBC announced it was holding "Crossing Jordan" for midseason. Then, as part of a schedule overhaul, it decided to bring it back after all, with the return planned for Oct. 20. Now that return has been put on hold while NBC tries to improve its ratings with … another game show. Here's the announcement:
One contestant will battle "the mob" of 100 others in an attempt to win $1 million in NBC's newest international game show import "1 vs 100," from Endemol USA, premiering its five-week run on Friday, October 13 (9-10 p.m.) following an original episode of "Deal or No Deal" (8-9 p.m. ET).
Following the series premiere, "1 vs 100" will air in its regular time slot on Fridays at 8 p.m. beginning October 20, leading into the return of "Las Vegas" (9-10 p.m. ET). As a result, "Crossing Jordan" will rejoin the NBC schedule at a date to be announced later.
The announcement was made today by Kevin Reilly, President, NBC Entertainment.
"This entertaining game is a proven winner from Europe that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats as the pressure builds with every question and the financial stakes grow higher," said Reilly. "Bob Saget is the perfect host to keep things percolating without letting the excitement of so many people spin out of control."
Reilly continued: "The introduction of this new show also allows us the luxury of saving such a proven and versatile series as 'Crossing Jordan' for use later in the season." (end announcement excerpt)
I'm not a fan of "Crossing Jordan," but I hear from a lot of them because its scheduling has been erratic. In fact, I was about to answer an e-mail about the show today — and to mention the Oct. 20 return, which NBC still had on its consumer Web site. Fortunately, a couple of brain cells remembered clicking past the "1 vs 100" release.

I really hope Crossing Jordan does return. I have been waiting for its return all sumer. I loved when it came on Sunday Nights and I don't want ot keep hanging on to find out what happens when she and her friends find out who killled Pollack. I really liked him. Jordan needed a romantic partner, I was hoping it would be Woody, I Love him. Please bring back Crossing Jordan, ANd you can put 1VS 100 on a different nigh like on Saturday night when nothing else is on TV. They are wanting to put Crime TV on when it's already on all week. I like the crime shows too, but they already took off Third Watch. Bring Crossing Jordan back.

Game shows are over saturated the market. 1 VS 100 will be short lived. Jordan had decent ratings, but NBC's indecision will probibly send the show to the grave yard. The only chance for survival is to put Jordan in a time slot where the other networks have saturated the airwsys with game shows.

I agree with previous comments. Out of sight out of mind. Everyone's channel surfing for the new shows and will get interested in other ones if they miss out on this one. I love Crossing Jordan and can't believe it's being put aside for another game show. Keep it on Sundays at 10pm - easier to catch after the kids are in bed. I hope with this delay, I won't miss the season premiere when they make up their mind on getting things rolling. The fans want to see what happens next.

Yeah, I have no interest in 1 Vs 100, I would much rather be watching Jordan. I lost track of last season because Grey's was popular in my house, but I was still looking forward to a new season. Who knows, with 1 Vs 100 doing so well on Friday nights - better than NBC has done in years - maybe it will stay there and Jordan can have her Sunday timeslot back.

I am really disappointed that Crossing Jordan is not premiering tonight. I've been waiting for weeks for its return. Wouldn't you know one of the smartest, most interesting shows would get bumped for another game show. I'm now down to one NBC show that I have any interest in watching, Law & Order, but that'll probably prove to be too smart to survive too.
