As a 40 year old woman I just LOVE the show and the "rape" scene really didn't disturb me at all- and apparantley- it didn't bother Janet at all either. Perhaps she'll become pregnant and have Tommy's son. My 21 year old female co-worker watched it with her husband and they both became aroused by that scene. I say more power to Denis for writing strong scenes. I have been watching the show since the pilot and haven't missed 1 episode. I think it is a wonderful show and I don't find it offensive at all on how the woman are treated. Janet is a real bitch-she deserved what she got- she should have supported her husband after the death of their only son- instead- she acted like she was the only hurt by it. Tommy does have a heart- he just doesn't like to show it. Because obviously- when he does show compassion- it comes back to kick him in the ass. I don't blame him. So- Denis- you just keep doing what you are doing and keep writing these strong scripts! I'm just bummed I have to wait another week for the new episode!

Akh. Did not mean to spoil it. Since I saw the two episodes, I apparently confused the unaired one with the one already televised. I generally try not to spoil things, so I apologize.

My wife and I had the same reaction to the end of the show last week...like "What the .... was THAT about?" And the ex putting on a new shirt and just sitting pretty as you please in the final scene? While we will continue to watch this show as it gets more and more weird (what the..Probie?), we are expecting a BIIIIIIG, and hopefully logical, payoff at the end of the season.

There is no excuse for the way the scene was written and acted.

Tolan and Leary should admit they went too far and stop trying to defend it as part of their "artistic" plan.

I hope they will be available at the upcoming TV Critics Association tour next month.

It will be good for them to see first hand how quickly they managed to repulse an almost universally-adoring pack of critics.

In our home, the show has been deleted from our TiVos.

There is no sense in condoning or encouraging such "entertainment" in any way.

As Leary and Tolan may be finding out, sometimes when you carelessly or thoughtlessly play with fire, you are the one who gets burned.
