Yeah, King, equality of blame on this subject is nothing more than an excuse, surely not a reason. Their jabs at this are so obviously nothing more than normal lib attempts to make their home country look like the bad guy. I wonder when one of them will attack Jefferson for saying, "Millions for defense, not one red cent for tribute". I really wonder if they will ever accept those words as those of their hero about a Muslim attempt to take advantage of Westerners.

Rev, that is one of the saddest accusations I have seen from you lefties. Did Bush really bomb the Twin Towers just for political gain? He must have done that to be able to use hatred for Muslims in order to get even for the mistake about his Daddy. How far are we going to go back in history connecting this to that to get Bush blamed for things that happened long before his birth?

Of course, Walter, bin Laden hadn't declared war on the West prior to the invasion of Iraq. Hmmm, it seems to me that you have a different time line than most people who think. Andrea, while you are explaining what caused Muslim hatred for the US maybe you could go a few years back from the Presidents you want to talk about and explain why the much traveled ex-merchant seaman, who was a soldier at the time, told me not to get off the ship in Morocco for the side trip those with enough rank could take. He said to go in their alone would be pure suicide and my chances of being left in an alley with my throat slit would be excellent. He said that Christians stick out like a sore thumb to those people and are fair game for not being Muslims. This my dear lady was in 1957 and I don't think any of the men you talked about were out of high school yet. Well, of course, Reagan was but he was living in Hollywood not DC.

Your case about what caused Muslim hatred for Christians didn't go far enough back in history by almost 1000 years.

King, I would tend to think most Americans (most reasonable Americans anyway, certainly not those republicans like yourself who stir this type of false outrage) understand the very simple axiom that if you poke that stick into that hornets nest, you should have a reasonable expectation to get stung.

I think that what brought this message home more than anything else is the invasion and occupation of Iraq where we poked that stick into that hornets nest and it cost us 4343 American lives

America's aggression whether it is by Bush, Clinton or Reagan is what caused the hatred against us which led to 9/11 and the more the USA acts like the police chiefs of the world the more of them we create.

It's a sloppy metaphorical sentence. We reap what we sow was the point, right?

The U.S stations military everywhere. We have over 700 military bases around the world. When we decide to use our military, say, in protecting U.S.-favorite oil guys in Kuwait like we did in 1991, then we shouldn't be surprised when Muslims who object to U.S. intervention on Muslim lands use violence against us.

That was Jones' point, I think….and if that was his point….he's 100% correct.

But Walter, did you not see the date of the Jones speech and also fail to see that King said that it would be very hard to blame the 2nd Bush since his bombs of "Shock and Awe" didn't start falling till March of 2003 and Jones' speech was delivered in September 2001?

Come on now it is obvious that you and the right Reverend one just don't care at all about timing if you can make it out to be the nasty US is responsible for everything that has come from the Middle East. Why do so many people confuse "Patriotism" with "Nationalism." George Orwell wrote that nationalism was one of the worst enemies of peace. He defined nationalism as the feeling that your way of life, country, or ethnic group were superior to others. These types of feelings lead a group to attempt to impose their morality on any given situation. Patriotism on the other hand was the feeling of admiration for a way of life and the willingness to defend it against attack.

"justice abroad"……see that? That's why Islamic extremists do what they do against western countries. Because there is no "justice abroad."

Van Jones is a realist, knowing that American exceptionalism is just so much hogwash…..and that the imperialistic goals of the U.S. are what have caused the animosity we see in Muslim extremities. You, King, on the other hand, think that America, alone, is exceptional and that if Muslims hate us and want to harm us…it's because they are bad.

One more thing…..we can't bomb our way out of this one…..and that's exactly what we're finding out in the quagmires that are Iraq and Afghanistan.
