The man had very few people to select his speakers from who weren't black in that room and I really don't think Don Lemon leans very far, politically. However, we do know that CNN leans a bit left although not quite as far as Keith Olbermann does.

Normally I am on the other side of DA King. On this argument I agree with Da King. I sure seems like once all of the facts are straight the cop pretty much did everything right. However, having said that, I think Obama`s remarks last week as he knew the facts ….were justified. Obama`s mistake was not letting the story unfold further. And, when was the last time a PRESIDENT OF THE UNITES STATES invited participants of such a controversial matter to the White House for a beer?

Where are the most cops killed? According to a man on TV this evening it is while trying to gain entry when the "bad guys" are inside the house behind walls and the cops are out in the open. Lets see now, Gates was in the house when he started screaming the racial epithets and Crowley was headed out the door when Gates said his little bit about talking to Croley's mama on the porch. A good racist knows how to bait and it seems that Gates did one helluva job.

As for the coming beer party, a recently retired cop told me today that Crowley is purely stupid if he goes into that party with a promise from each of the bad guys, black guys or whatever they are, that they would apoligize in public. He gains nothing by going there and Obama has nothing to lose and all to gain.

Second….I'll tell you what difference it makes. Whalen never said, (and it's clear on the 9-11 tape that she didn't), anything about "2 black men with backpacks." That is a fact. What then explains "2 black men with backpacks" in Crowley's written report? I need an answer from you of that question.

Whalen also says she never spoke to Crowley at the scene…..what then explains Crowley's explanation that she did? Does Crowley suffer from severe bouts of short term memory loss?

It's not just the word "black" that Crowley invented. He used the word "backpacks" in his report. Where did that word come from? Backpacks, in the narrative of a break-in has a completely different connotation then suitcases. Agree?

Then, why did Crowley write that stuff in his report? Was he trying to paper over, after the fact, a botched response to the 9-11 call? Or do you think those errors were just coincidental? Which is more believable?

Crowley heard Gates talking on the phone, he was calling police headquarters to complain about Crowley, and THAT'S what Crowley could not stand. THAT'S what led to the arrest. It was a bit of real time payback.

As far as I am concerned there are 2 scenarios…..first there's scenario A….this is where Whalen is truthful and Crowley is lying. Then there is scenario B where Crowley is truthful and Whalen is not. He had a report of a break-in. That probably gave him enough probable cause to confront Gates. If he had a witness who described black males with backpacks and saw a person at the door that matched that description(which would be Gates) THAT would allow Crowley pretty much free rein to do pretty much anything he wanted. After the bust when Crowley was writting his report, he put that crap in there to support his claim of probable cause.

It's called CYA. That's probably the first thing taught at the police acadamy.

You're contradicting yourself about probable cause. Your second statement is the correct one. Crowley had probable cause to go to Gates house to investigate when the witness called the police to report a possible break-in. There's no "probably" about it. That's the police's job.

On the 911 call, Whalen indicated she wasn't sure of the race of the men involved. So, whether she said "two males," "two males with suitcases," "two black males with backpacks," "two gay men wearing pink tutus," or nothing at all regarding their description at the scene, it makes absolutely no difference. Crowley was there on legitimate police business in any case. There was no "threshhold of probable cause" for Crowley to overcome.

And your "in my experience" standard for deciding that Crowley is lying isn't worth responding to. It's just your opinion, based upon nothing except your own prejudices. I don't necessarily think either Whalen or Crowley was lying (but I obviously don't know for sure, because I have no way of knowing. It'd just be speculation). Crowley didn't have any reason to lie about the "two black males" part of his report that I can see. Neither did Whalen, other than maybe to stop the crazy threats she was receiving from the rabid lefties who were calling her a racist.
