Following are some news stories our esteemed mainstream media just can't manage to find time for, at least not when such pressing issues as whether or not Miss California, Carrie Prejean, has had a boob job are still under investigation. Prejean, the 21-year old liberal hate media target of the week, also had some racy Victoria's Secret modeling photos taken of her when she was 17, so it's perfectly understandable why the media missed the following stories. I imagine they are too busy working up a full-scale profile on the hypocrisy of the entire Christian movement after Miss California had the audacity to politely say she thought marriage should be between a man and a woman. Prejean is obviously worse than Hitler, and must be destroyed, along with that Sarah woman from Alaska. Those b's (or are they c's ?) better zip it, and go bake some cookies. This is the hope and change era, dammit. We can't have these dames going around offering their pretty little opinions, even when asked for them at a Miss USA pageant or a national Vice Presidential debate. It's not like they didn't know what they were SUPPOSED to say. If we don't put these gals in their place, before you know it, women will be running around giving all kinds of opinions about stuff, and not the always the RIGHT ones either. Who wants THAT kind of country ?
On to the news the media can't use.

The Obama administration has decided not to release the photos from the Scare Force One New York flyover that terrified the residents of lower Manhattan. This sets an interesting standard of what constitutes classified or privileged information to the Obamans. The Bush "torture" memos – NO. The Iraq prisoner abuse photos – NO. Photos that might embarass the President – YES. It appears "the most open administration in history" is only open about OTHER administrations, not it's own.

Multiple Chrysler creditors are saying the Obama administration engaged in political threats and intimidation to get the creditors to surrender their contractual rights as the Obama administration wants. From Business Insider:
Conversations with administration officials left them [Chrysler creditors] expecting that they would be politically targeted, two participants in the negotiations said.
Although the focus has so been on allegations that the White House threatened Perella Weinberg, sources familiar with the matter say that other firms felt they were threatened as well. None of the sources would agree to speak except on the condition of anonymity, citing fear of political repercussions.
The audacity of hope. The politics of fear. This is why the government shouldn't run businesses, and why government should be limited, as the Constitution intended. It looks like Obama's Chicago political machine training is coming in handy. Make 'em an offer they can't refuse. One creditor, who voted for Obama, called him "the most dangerous smooth talker on the planet – and I knew Kissinger."

Recent polling suggests Americans don't believe in man-made global warming, despite the finest scare tactics the left and the media could muster up. A recent Rasmussen poll found that only 34% of Americans believe man is causing global warming. A Pew Research poll found that out of twenty important issues facing the country, global warming ranked dead last, the least important. I'd say maybe Al Gore should make another movie to protect his green investments, but Democrats are pressing forward with climate change legislation anyway. House Democrats say they'll have a bill ready by Memorial Day, and intend to pass it by year end.

In the $3.5 trillion budget approved by Congress, President Obama's much hyped "tax cuts for 95% of Americans" end after NEXT YEAR. Y'all really didn't believe the hype, did you ? Notably, Bush's tax cuts for the lower and middle classes will be kept (I thought those were "tax cuts for the rich"). Also, the budget stops Republicans from blocking Obama's health care plans (but I'm sure they are blocking the GOP in a "bipartisan" and "inclusive" fashion).

But I want to be fair to our media. Here is a great story MSNBC broke about Obama and Biden going to a burger joint in Virginia. It seems our Telemprompter-In-Chief and his Gaffemaster VP walked right up to the counter, ordered their own burgers, and waited until the burgers were done. End of story. Do I smelll a Pulitzer in the air for MSNBC ?????

For anyone who wants to intelligently discuss this subject, try the above link. Alterman also has a brilliant book on this topic.
Eric Boehler's book, "Bush's Lapdogs" is also very good on this topic.
Alterman has been way ahead on this stuff for years.
King…the Air Force One flyover is a non-story. The media did report on it the day it happened. There's just no story there.
Why bring up Chrysler? You wanted American automakers punished with bankruptcy….so why do you care if Obama got tough with their creditors?
And really, do we have to go round and round eternally on climate change?
America, global warming or not, needs to get off of oil, for national security reasons.
The media I see is continually mocking Al Gore over global warming….so I don't know what you're talking about.
A 2005 story from a dude from the Center of American Progress? I'm sure "Bush's Lapdogs" is similarly evenhanded and insightful.
What about this crazy stunt flying? Do F-16 pilots really take promo shots while navigating through cityscape canyons? I don't think there are pictures.
I think King doesn't like the thought of the federal government threatening private citizens and entities with media smears, etc., Reverend. He's got some weird kind of bigotry toward fascist tyrants, I know.
The media may be mocking Gore about global warming, but the dem Congress is still 'all in,' on our dime, Reverend.
da truth,
You're kidding me, right ? You pick a liberal writer for the Nation to cite ? That's like asking the Reverend. You won't get a straight answer there. Let's try to find a neutral source.
The Pew poll (and many others) says the media is liberal.

Here's a study from 2005 that says 58% of Americans think the media has a liberal bias. There's also a ton more evidence at this link.

In 2004, MSNBC looked at political contributions from journalists. Of 143 who made campaign contributions, 125 gave to Dems, and only 16 gave to Repubs.

This should give you the real picture.
Rev,
Please show me one mainstream media special about man-made global warming skeptics, other than some mentions on Fox News. I have NEVER seen one, but I've seen tons of them talking about how global warming is going to destroy everything. You're being dishonest about this. The media is totally on board the global warming bandwagon. And please tell me you aren't complaining about me "going round and round on global warming," when you have written at least a dozen posts to date about torture in the last two-three weeks.
The story about Scare Force One was about the Obama admin not releasing the pictures, not about the flyover itself. Kinda hard to keep the flyover quiet when New Yorkers get the bejesus scared out of them and are running through the streets.
And what larry said about the Obamans threatening Chrysler's creditors, who, btw, are NOT Chrysler. They're the people Chrysler owes money to.
Yawn
I wonder what would happen if some media outlet would pay for a poll of the thousands of New Yorkers who had the crap scared out of them by the large plane flying among their buildings with a fighter in "hot pursuit". Yeah, Rev, that would surely be a non-story among them. I'll bet the pollsters couldn't get out of the place in one piece but then this is a non-story.
I am with larry d. in thinking there are no pictures or that day from those planes. It may well have been a fear producing exercise aimed at seeing if New Yorkers have forgotten 9/11. Remember all those Chicago politicians who are involved as head men in Obama's "brain trust".
I would agree that the media and many of our citizens who prefer not to think for themselves are all about global warming. Lol, a friend of mine was really insulted when I sent her an article about Gore's hypocrisy on the subject. I said when he sells his SUVs and buys a smaller house, then he can preach to me. I don't see much in the media mocking Gore. Rather, I hear praises for his efforts to convince the rest of us not to do as he's doing.
If global warming is, indeed occurring, which I'm not so sure about (remember when all the buzz was about the next coming Ice Age, lol?), then why does Tim Ball, a Canadian climatologist, think that the global warming scare is a huge waste of money and resources? http://www.canadafreepress.com/2007/global-warming020507.htm "Meanwhile, politicians are being listened to, even though most of them have no knowledge or understanding of science, especially the science of climate and climate change. Hence, they are in no position to question a policy on climate change when it threatens the entire planet. Moreover, using fear and creating hysteria makes it very difficult to make calm rational decisions about issues needing attention."
I agree that the MSNBC story about Biden and Obama going for burgers was extremely important. Think of all the vegetarian outrage this will provoke, lol. It seems obvious from the way they're doing photo-ops for the press instead of working where their priorities are. As far as panicking the citizens of post-9/11 New York, I'm just wondering if any of those folks have heard of PhotoShop? No president will ever be completely free of stupid judgement calls (to the tune of $328,000) being made during his time in office, obviously, but why call for an investigation but not share the evidence? As a taxpayer and citizen, I feel a little like a partial owner in a company who's not being informed about the company's activites. If I want the information, I should have the right to request it in a matter that doesn't involve national security.
Here's another piece of news they can't use. Many of our states have reached double diget unemployement. This has happened since the Dems took over congress in 2006 and Obama has become president. It was in an uptrend for 2 years after 9-11 then was headed in a down trend until 2007. Dems take over and it blows up. Good job Nancy, Harry, Obama.
Yes joe, but don't forget – Obama's $800 billion spending package, I mean, stimulus package, has resulted in a construction upswing of 0.3 perctent. Obviously, Obama IS the one.
I wonder how long it will take for Democrats to realize that the deficit in 2007 (before the Dems took Congress) was $175 billion. Since they've taken Congress, the deficits have been $485 billion and $$1.8 trillion. And now, with the Big O in charge, we are going to run the biggest deficits in history year after year after year. Even if Obama's fondest dreams come true, we are going to run the biggest deficits in our country's history.
But Obama is going to REDUCE government…..by $17 billion. This is the all-time biggest joke (and lie) ever perpetrated against the American people.
Yeah, yeah…the flyover scared some people.
Maybe Obama can release flyover pictures when he releases the traincar load of incriminating evidence against the Terror Twins.
I wonder what it would take for torture apologists to turn on the neo-con criminals.
Here's a question for ya'. In a ticking time bomb situation, the script taken directly from "24", you know, keeping it real……would it be okay if the torturers rounded up the detainee's children and began cutting off their fingers, one at a time, in front of the torturee until he spilled his guts?
Would that be okay? See….no organ failure or threat of death….so it would also fall within the guidelines of Comrade Yoo. How about it?
What do you think Rev? That's why waterboarding is only torture in the eyes of those who hate George Bush, it's causes no harm only fear. And no snipping fingers wouldn't fall within the guidelines.
Don't you think you have sunk to the ridiculous with that question?
It probably wouldn't matter to the libs though. They would rather see millions blown up than interogate a terrorist that knows for sure where and when the next attack will be. They would rather try to gain his trust, take him to dinner and drinks, maybe buy him one of their hookers. I feel so safe with you guys in charge.
Rev there is no incriminating evidence against Bush and Cheney. The only evidence is the science fiction the left has made up on the conspiracy weblogs and the lying heads on MSNBC. The evidence is in your minds because your party leaders placed it there. They know that if you tell a bad enough lie long enough it will become truth for some. Sort of like the bully in school that mad fun of the weakling that that had dandruff, by the end of the day the story was repeated so many times he had headlice. From that moment on he was known as the kid with lice. Even though most knew it was a lie. That's how Bush and Cheney are, the stories are made up. Just like global warming. Fish on!! Fish on!! can't you guys feel the hooks in your jaws?
Rev asks, "In a ticking time bomb situation, the script taken directly from "24", you know, keeping it real……would it be okay if the torturers rounded up the detainee's children and began cutting off their fingers, one at a time, in front of the torturee until he spilled his guts?"
The ultimate phony straw man argument. Nobody has ever suggested such a thing, and nobody ever will.
Here's the real argument. You capture the mastermind of 9/11, KSM, and he is planning other attacks against America. When asked whether such plots might be planned, KSM, a high-level Al Qaeda operative, says "soon you will know." So you make the decision to subject him to waterboarding, and he starts to talk, thus revealing key intelligence that prevents subsequent terrorist attacks. The real question is – do you prosecute the presidential administration for ordering such interrogation methods, or do you give credit to that administration for stopping the murder of innocent American (and other) civilians?
The Rev says – let Americans and other innocent people die, because KSM should be granted all the rights of full American citizenship during wartime, even though he already murdered nearly 3,000 Americans prior to that. The Rev doesn't even realize that we are at war with people who want to kill us. He thinks it's all about oil, or enriching Halliburton, or proselytizing Muslims into the Christian faith, or some such nonsense.
I disagree. Wholeheartedly. I'm on the side of my country.
Some more news. Biggest continuous drop in jobs in over 25 years. In defense of Obama, Reagan, after Carter had the same opportunity that Obama has. (Only the fault of the job losses is not in Bushes hands but the unwillingness of Congress to act over the past 2 years.) Obama will be taking the long way around. We'll see how this pans out. Reagan was for Capitalism and took us into one of the most prosperous periods in history, he fought tooth and nail with a Dem lead House, thank goodness he had a Rep lead senate. Obama is a communist er…I…mean socialist…I mean progressive. He has a Dem lead congress with almost a super majority and himself. These are opposite situations, we'll see which one works best.
If you listened to the media today talk about the loss of 539,000 more jobs in April, they are acting like it means the economy is turning around, because we lost more jobs in March. Never mind that almost the entire difference between March and April was because the federal government hired a bunch more people, mostly to do the census (who are on the taxpayer dime, not contributing to net economic growth). Boy, the media thinks we're a bunch of dummies.
I also heard that if you count all the people who have fallen off the unemployment rolls and either haven't found work or are working part time jobs, the unemployment rate goes up to over 15%. Employers all over the country are also scaling back employee hours. The average work week is now 33 hours. Of course, those facts didn't come from the mainstream media.
King – we must be on the same brain wave length. I was just about to write about that. The media is acting like Obama is single handedly turning around the economy. How do you find solace in the loss of 100k less jobs from the previous month. He is going to save or create 3M jobs. The other day he claimed to create or save 150k jobs. Yet we lost 539k for the month. That was like Robard being happy about creating 150 new temporary construction jobs, meanwhile on the other side of town 300 were getting let go as their factories were being closed. The biggest industries to grow were govt and healthcare. The Dems have already caused the loss of 6m jobs since the dem congress took over and let energy prices get so far out of control that companies began shutting down allowing the nation to grind to a halt. Meanwhile they vacationed whille Rome burned. (August 2008)
Another piece of news they can't use would be that DC power is all run by Natural Gas now instead of coal and gas. hhhmmmmmm. I wonder if T.Boone or Nancy or Al had any influence. Just sayin'….
I should let you write some of the posts for this blog. There's so much astounding stuff going on that I can't keep up with it all.
Did you hear about the Treasury bond auction ? Demand was so weak that we had to pay higher interest rates to get anyone to buy our long term debt. That means more interest on the debt, which will make the Obama deficit and debt projections run even higher than estimated. A lot higher if the trend continues. Our entire federal government has become an unraveling Ponzi scheme. Soon, Obama will have to either drastically cut government spending, or drastically increase taxes. There isn't much doubt about which one he'll pick.
And everybody is pretending they don't see the commercial mortgage market collapse coming, or the SS/Medicare debt tidal wave.
The worst is yet to come, with Obama and the Dems making things far worse than they already were to begin with.
But hey, at least Obama cut $17 billion in federal programs, eh ? That'll help, even though he really didn't cut anything, because that money is going to fund OTHER federal programs, not to reduce the deficit. Somehow the media missed that too.
They are taking to much for granted. They are seeing that it wasn't such a good idea to go on vacation while the nation was drowning in gas price increases, just so their boy could get elected. This is going to become a real problem. The dollar has dropped over 1000 points in under 2 weeks verses the Euro on the FOREX. If you don't know what that means, just know it is a lot. HUGE!.
Our bonds aren't worth nothing because wall street is under fire from the govt. No one is going to invest in this market. and we have no and I mean no good risks coming along as far as industrial base GNP projects. We are losing our value. This is what happens when the guy you hire has no experieince and needs on the job training.
You mean "green jobs" aren't going to save us, lol ?
Wasn't it you who mentioned the other day that the price index is also rising ? Rather than recovery, it sounds like we are going into phase II of the recession. We're in debt up to our ears, the dollar is weakened, other countries aren't too keen on buying up more and more of our massive debt. We're printing money, the GDP is shrinking, unemployment is the highest in 25 years, we can't sustain all our entitlements, and our industrial base is vanishing. And Obama wants to raise energy prices through the roof, spend like a drunken sailor, create more entitlements, and increase taxes.
What could possibly go wrong ? Besides everything, that is. Rather than recovery, it sounds more like the perfect storm to me.
