The Other Red Meat

The Bush "torture" memos released by President Obama indicate Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, the mastermind of the 9/11 hijackings that killed 2,974 innocent people here in the USA, was waterboarded 183 times.

That's outrageous. A travesty of justice. We're better than that.

Let's calculate. 2,974 cold-blooded murders minus 183 waterboardings leaves……..2,791 more waterboardings to go for KSM !!! And then we should shoot him 2,974 times, cut him into 2,974 pieces, and feed him to 2,974 rats.

Oh my gosh, what's wrong with me ? What can I possibly be thinking ???????????

KSM beheaded American journalist Daniel Pearl too.

Make that 2,975 pieces.

Glad we got those 4500 to 6000 rotten Afghan civilians. That showed everyone that we WEREN'T better than that.Oops keep forgetting about the what, 150,000 in Iraq.

  • Da King

It's good to know, that when the USA is at war, you're on the other side.

What did you expect us to do after 9/11, issue a strong UN statement that said we disapproved of having 3,000 of our people murdered ? Or were we supposed to apologize for provoking the terrorists into attacking us ?

  • Tbomb

Such an ignorant response makes one wonder about the value of this discourse. Of course the slaughter of 3,000 innocents demanded the slaughter of twice as many. Here's a thought, target the actual perpetrators and when having Bin Laden and cohorts boxed in at Tora Bora how about "staying the course" instead of moving troops and resources into Iraq. This is so reminiscent of Wimpy I calling off the dogs when he had the Republican Guard cornered in the Gulf War then inexplicably backing off and calling on the Kurds and Shiite to rise up only to watch them get slaughtered while not doing a thing.Of course American innocents count more than others. That's real patriotism!

  • Bubba

So I guess it was the US Army that killed all of those Iraqis, not Al-Quaeda or the Madhi Army. Obviously someone is off the meds again. That clown is more wacked that the Rev. At least the Rev can make coherrent points. And yes American innocents do count more than others, at least from an American point of view. I believe Tbomb is actually advocating invading Pakistan to get Bin Laden. Sounds like a unilateral foreign policy to me.

  • Tbomb

Well they weren't killed before we launched a civil war. I would never want to go into Pakistan, a nation formerly led by our good ally Musharraf, who seized power in a coup. a nation that both possessed and exported nuclear weapons and a nation hiding Bin Laden…no that would be crazy.

  • The Reverend

To the point of your post……well, what really is the point of your post?

Because someone else acts savagely towards us…..that gives us the right to act savagely towards them? I'm not talking about self-defense, I'm talking about behaving barbarically.

What the hell kind of society would we have if that philosophy was conventional wisdom?

Did Hitler just have the wrong political views when he ordered savagry….it wasn't the savagry, itself, that was wrong?

  • averagejoe5

Hitler was the aggressor Rev. He wasn't attacked first. No one attacked him. He hate jews just becaiuse they were jews like the muslims hate america for being america.

Self defense requires more than covering the head and taking the beating. You must prove a point that if you mess with me you'll get f'd up. We did that.

We did not act like barbarians. Barbarians are always on the offensive. They create crap and must be stopped. WHy do you all hate America so much? You demonize everything.

Tbomb, why so assumptive. Are you sure they were hiding BinLaden? Why didn't our guys get him then? There was a huge bounty on his head.

  • Da King

Rev asks, "Because someone else acts savagely towards us…..that gives us the right to act savagely towards them?

You better believe it. On an individual level, we call it "self-defense." On a national level, we call it "war." It's all very savage, but the alternative is a lot worse.

If someone broke into your home and tried to kill your entire family, would you:

    a) act "savagely" and try to kill the attacker, or
    b) invite the attacker to lunch to calmly discuss your differences

If you responded 'b', you're dead.

And to Tbomb – We attacked Afghanistan AFTER 9/11, and after the Taliban, who were harboring the 9/11 perpetrators, refused to hand them over. If you have a problem with those American actions, which is what you suggested with your statement about Afghans being killed, then my "ignorant response" stands. And if you've figured out a way for no civilians to be killed in a war, I'm sure the Pentagon would love to hear about it. We don't target civilians (Al Qaeda does). If we did target civilians, both the Afghanistan and Iraq wars would have been over within 3 months.

  • CSD@MTV

All of this military stuff must have worked. No attacks since 9/11/01. The proof is in the results. For that I have no regrets.
