Except the Tea Parties WEREN'T merely anti-Obama rallies.

There was plenty of anti-Obama sentiment, that's for sure, but that's because Obama took the bad Bush fiscal policies and made them twice as bad. The Tea Party revolt is against our irresponsible government growth, and Obama is the leader of that government. If Obama reversed course, stopped all this insane deficit spending, and restored fiscal responsibility, well, those Tea Party rallies would end, and all those people would be pro-Obama, myself included. THAT is what would destroy the Republican party for a decade or two, but no, instead, Obama and the Dems will cause a swing of the political gate back over to the GOP side due to their deceptions and irresponsible policies. This is what happens over and over and over again in this country. We go back and forth, shifting power from dumb to dumber, then back to dumb again.

My actual hope here is that Obama, who might be willing to listen to others, and who will definitely be interested in being re-elected, might change direction. If the protests keep building and building, and the Dems suddenly see themselves threatened, maybe he/they will change direction. The protests must continue, because the Dems sure won't do it if nobody complains. If nobody complains, we're in BIG trouble. BIG.

I know some disagree...but the reason the media, except for Fox, did what it did, was because the Tea Parties didn't really make any sense. Eventually, the media, except Fox, concluded that the Parties were simply anti-Obama get togethers. Nothing wrong with that...but it would have been simpler if the GOP organizers would have made it clear from the start.

The Republican Party is in shambles.....high profile GOP leaders were looking to find a new foothold of populist power.....so they decided to organize convoluted grab-bag protest Tea Parties.

All a gimmick.

The opposition party doesn't need new protest gimmickry.....they need new ideas.

If there was ever a doubt about the existence of the liberal mainstream media before (you and I had no doubt, but some did), the Tea Party movement proved the case. The mainstream media rushed to Obama's defense, lied about all the facts, and attempted to demonize and distort what was really taking place at the Tea Parties. It was a shameful display of the media's bias and arrogance.

Napolitano's apology was so sad. She created the climate that had to exist in most police houses and, of course, National Guard headquarters and she did that in concert with the leftmedia and the administration. I wonder if the administration people are still ignoring what looked to me like a very large bunch of very unhappy citizens who were very well behaved. I am waiting for the MSM talking points about all the rowdy behavior.

I hope some of the people at the White House saw that little old lady with the sign about "This time we came unarmed". That was very appropriate, in my way of thinking since the day may come when it doesn't read like that.

I am sure that I haven't heard John Rich sing his themesong for the protests for the last time at a rally. This day wasn't the last although it was probably the smallest.

I almost forgot. Did you hear Napolitano this morning trying to talk her way out of calling veterans an extremist risk ? It was pretty sad, and too late. The damage is done.

That CNN reporter was a moron. She wasn't even reporting, she was editorializing. The reporter tried to antagonize the protesters with partisan crapola and insults, and then when she got a rise of out of them, as she intended to do, she pretended the protesters were the instigators. Typical.

Roy,
Thanks for the kind words.

Napolitano's report was strange, Orwellian, and biased, but I didn't see too much wrong with that Maryland National Guard memo. I think that was pretty much standard preparatory procedure where large demonstrations are involved. Of course, there wasn't anything much to worry about with the Tea Party protesters. They were regular, working folks who are scared about the direction their country is headed. They weren't even the usual protesting types. There were Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Libertarians, and Constitutional Party people. There were people of all political stripes, and people with no political stripes. I can't tell you how many people told me this was the first protest they ever attended. Nothing much to worry about.

I'm sure the Leftmedia will find a few dumb things said out of the hundreds of thousands of people who attended the Tea Parties, and they will focus on that as if it represents the whole of the protest movement. It will be an enormous lie, but....that's what the Leftmedia does, tell enormous lies. Nothing new there.

I only hope the movement continues and doesn't end here.

larry,
As I remember from the Clinton adminstration, a couple shootouts between the Feds and extremists worked just as you said. Of course, it also led to Timothy McVeigh, so there is a substantial downside. McVeigh was motivated by what happened at Ruby Ridge and to the Branch Davidians.

I don't understand the reason why you posted the link to the Maryland Nat'l Guard memo, roy. What's the point? No inflammatory language....just a preparatory going over of procedure. The point is....what?

Question for all.....if warnings like yesterday's DHS leaked summary of potential domestic threats could have pre-empted McVeigh's action.....would THAT have been a good thing, or not?

King, I forgot to say that I thought this was one of your very best efforts of the past 5 years and Rev had the temerity to call it what lefties have to call things like this in a attempt to hide the truth. So much good info, with all the good interpretation that I had to read it with wonderment. Great job and you did it before those dangerous tea parties that Napolitano warned police and military about.

Did you watch any of the Fox coverage? I couldn't watch MSNBC and since what that CNN woman did this afternoon I am sworn off them forever. I really miss some of the CNN crap but won't be going there again.

Great job, old buddy. Now get together a report on the parties as there will be lots of negative lies on the MSM and some good stuff from Fox. I don't think this is the last day and with over 1 million, nationwide taking part the next ones will probably be larger. Soon the Congressmen, who bore the brunt of things today, might even start paying attention. Even Obama may take some notice if a larger group turns out. He said he didn't know much about the meetings today, but that must have been because Janet said what he wanted said. LOL

King, I got here a little late because I had errands to do this morning and then took all of the afternoon and evening watching that hated Fox bunch as they showed all those Tea Parties. Somehow I didn't see one dangerous act by any of those right winged people. Could that have been because there were about as many Democrats at them as Republicans? Did you get to see any of them performing, like in the rain and all that? Nice weather everywhere but the East Coast so not too many had to suffer in order to take part.

Well sir, I was amazed to see that the woman with the CNN mike who got filmed by someone and the film stolen by the Fox horribles was so horrible to the people she interviewed. She just wouldn't let that one man talk at all because he refused to say what she wanted him to say. Anyway he was a bit pissed before she got to him because he was carrying his two year old daughter and had had to hold her some time and it was getting uncomfortable.

King, I promised to let everyone here know about how bad Napolitano's letter scared the commander of the Maryland National Guard. Here are his orders to the group based on what she had said. I think he saw just what you and I saw and not what Reverend Red saw. Read it carefully, Red because you may want to call it a pack of lies.

By golly, truth I think that Begala has failed miserably. Of course, I am talking after the tea parties took place and not much of what he tried to change the subject about happened.

Those nasty people, of all political stripes were making noises about spending too much, much more than about taxing. For some reason all of them including Democrats and Independents just didn't like the spending of the last three months.

Why those people even complained of some of the things that Begala mentioned but not many. The best sign I saw in a whole day of watching those people on Fox (20,000 of them in Atlanta alone) was carried by a middle aged woman in Atlanta. It was a small sign that said only, "This time we came unarmed". I wonder if that was a threat or a promise. Make sure that some of your Democrat friends hear about that one so they have some to talk about on blogs.

I want to provide one of the silliest things of the day about the Maryland National Guard and how fearful they must have been after receiving Napalitano's fearsome letter. I will do it to King because he may not see it here. You can go to the next post to see it if you want to see the kind of fear that thing caused to the leader of that staunch group.

Did you really believe all those left handed people talking about those parties? Did you really think they were just gripe sessions about Obama and Democrats ? For some reason I saw as many things that could be attributed to Bush as to the present fear mongers. Did I actually call the present administration fear mongers? Well I sure did, twice. Well you look at that National Guard thing and maybe you will understand better why.

Paul Begala said it better than I could:

This country has showered me with the blessings of liberty. So what do I owe my country in return? Paying my fair share of taxes, it seems, is the least I can do. Thanks to President Obama and the Democratic Congress, 95 percent of Americans will get a tax cut this year. No one -- not even the wealthiest 1 percent -- will have to pay higher income taxes until 2011.

So why are a bunch of Fox News clowns and right-wing cranks hosting "tea parties" all over the country? The Boston Tea Party, in case the clods at Fox didn't know it, protested "taxation without representation." Note the second word: without. The goofballs tossing tea bags today have representation. They voted in the election; they lost.

That a bunch of overpaid media millionaires would lead a faux-populist revolt is comical. They somehow held their populist instincts in check as George W. Bush and the Republicans cut taxes on the idle rich and put the screws to the working stiffs.

Bush's tax policies were a godsend to the Paris Hilton class, but they sent the country on the road to bankruptcy and helped ruin the economy. But now that we the people have decided to set things right, now that we've hired Obama to fix the mess conservatives created, now they're protesting?

Give me a break. Instead of tossing tea bags for the cameras, the Fox phonies ought to go to Walter Reed Army Medical Center. There they would find better, braver men who have truly sacrificed for their country. They deserve nothing but the best -- not the shameful and shoddy conditions they endured during the Bush administration. iReport.com: Share your thoughts on taxes and tea parties

You want something to protest? How 'bout protesting how little we give back to our veterans? Or how 'bout protesting that the entire budget of the National Cancer Institute (where government researchers battle a disease that will strike half of all men and a third of all women) is 0.03 percent of what we gave the bandits at American International Group alone? Oh, but veterans benefits and cancer research might cost money. It might require -- dare I say it? -- paying taxes.

If the whiners at Fox News want to advertise their selfishness, they are free to do so. But please don't dress it up as patriotism. Patriotism is putting your country ahead of yourself -- which is the precise opposite of what the tea party plutocrats are doing.

Maybe The One feels it will be hard to pass until there's 'intelligence' indicating these rightwing nutjobs are buying assault weapons, King. Then they can mix in an unfortunate shootout or two involving federal authorities.

So let me get this straight. Since I'm a American who's tired of all the outragous spending by our govt, I'm a terrorist, but our enemies in the Mideast who are trying to kill us can't be called terrorist?

BHO and his administration are completely out of touch with common citizens.

larry,
I read today that 65 House Democrats wrote to Obama telling him not to act on the assault weapon ban. That thing might be harder to pass than Obama anticipates.

What the Rev really means is - there is NO argument compelling enough to convice him.

And Rev, how is it possible that the report didn't say what I said it did ? I quoted the report over and over. What you're really saying is that the report didn't say what the report said it says (or something like that).

If the Bush admin had come out with a similar DHS report about left-wing extremists (where NO plans of threats actually existed), I imagine the Rev would have broken out the Bush-Hitler comparisons in a New York minute.

Like I said, Rev. Transparent.

The subject-changing attempt won't work either.

As for your contention that Obama pre-emptively dealt with the Tea Parties - that's a good one. I like jokes. Did Obama reverse course from spending us into oblivion yesterday ? That would be a big, fat NO.

Just because I don't agree with certain formulations, doesn't mean my mind is closed.....on the contrary....it means the argument is not compelling enough to convince me.

Obama addressed the tea parties yesterday when he spoke clearly about economic issues, pre-emptively answering objections by right wingers. The DHS report was leaked....now you can say it was leaked purposely...but why would Obama want to be attacked by the right on yet another issue?

And if it is your opinion that Obama is conducting a PR campaign.....did you raise that objection anytime over the PR campaigns by Bush-Cheney? Especially, acording to McClellan, the PR blitz that led to 4200 dead American soldiers?

Were any conservatives freaked out by the creepiness of their government's activity in vacuuming up all their communications for evaluation? Anything creepy about that? How about the Pentagon's infiltration of anti-war church groups? Creepy? Or is creepiness defined by conservatives as anything that calls conservatives' words or actions into question? Is that it?

Better rush out and buy a couple more assault-style weapons, huh? Before it's too late.

Creepier by the day.

I also have to wonder what Homeland Security knows about the 'passing of new restrictions on firearms' that the rest of us don't.

Rev~

I try not to argue with folks that have closed minds, but this report is just a shell game that is trying to keep the idea that different views on taxation & constitutionality is somehow extreme. The timing is so obviously meant to counteract the tea parties...it is such a transparent attempt at PR type campaign mode politics.

So....you don't want the Office of Homeland Security to protect the Homeland? You dont' want Homeland Security working closely with state and local protectors....you know....to protect the Homeland? Or is it, that they just have to do it secretly, quietly...like Bush-Cheney did?

All the abortion clinic bombings, all the abortion doctor killings, all the 90's militias, McVeigh's act.....all of those kinds of proven threats from the 90's (the last time we had a Democratic president) shouldn't be of any concern to Homeland Security officials?

And my goodness did you take liberties with the report. I read it too and it doesn't say what you said.

The Report was a standard-issue report. Nothing unusual about it. Previously, the DHS has warned against left-wing groups.

One more complaint.....the Report does not single out veterans, smearing them as dangerous or terrorists. What it does is clearly state the threat of radical right wing groups RECRUITING veterans. Big difference.

King, There will be millions at these events. Watch how the media over reacts if even one or two of these people get out of line.
We'll see if there is any ammonia spraying or urine and feces splashing and tossing or damage done to others property like the libs did at the RNC or was it the DNC.
This is part of another plank in the communist manifesto. We are headed that way at warp speed. I guess it doesn't matter to the libs because they will all be taken care of.
