Doh ! Obama Reinstates Bush Stem Cell Rules

Two days after President Obama reversed the Bush-era rules limiting federal funding for embryonic stem cell research to existing stem cell lines, Obama signed the spending bill into law, which….REINSTATED the Bush embryonic stem cell rules. This is not a joke:

A spending bill that Obama signed on Wednesday explicitly bans federal funding of any "research in which a human embryo or embryos are destroyed, discarded, or knowingly subjected to risk of injury or death," language that pertains to creation of new stem cell lines.

This provision, known as the Dickey-Wicker amendment, was included in the 465-page omnibus spending bill that will fund government agencies through September. The amendment is a measure Congress has included in spending bills in every fiscal year since 1996.

Priceless.

Does anybody read these bills ? Anybody at all ? It seems not.

Click your heels together three times and say "our government knows what it's doing. Our government knows what it's doing."

    LOLOL! Priceless!

This is scarey isn't, it King? No one reads these things. Dems nor Reps. How can we count on our leaders to provide good leadership skills if they don't even know what they are voting on. (Remember Voinivich and the Fairness Doctrine? I think the only one that reads these things front to back is Dennis Kucinich) One other thing we will see that Obama is going to resort to more and more Republican ideas that they had screamed foul about. John McCain was talking about taxing employer based benefits and there was a major campaign ad concerning this. Guess what came out yesterday…….. Also they will find that Bush's ideas weren't that bad nor was he as stupid as they thought. (even though he sounds like Manson when he talks (vocal tone and style not content))

Those who say the conservative republican movement is dead have a big surprise coming. If the libs are counting on an overwelming majority after this next election, they need to think again, this thing is coming apart at the seams.

averagejoe5, your statement reminds me of what one of my history professors used to say. The further in one direction the pendulum swings, the further it swings in the other. It's a reassuring thought to me, that extremism on either side will eventually be reigned it by the other.

    Joe,
And now Obama and company have taken to saying the fundamentals of the economy are strong, after they heaped so much criticism on John McCain during the presidential campaign for saying exactly the same thing.

Can you believe Obama's only been in office for 52 days ? So many screwups in so little time. It boggles the mind.

He is a smiling bobblehead of a president.
