A famous American weather forecasting animal, the groundhog named Punxsutawney Phil, emerged at Gobbler's Knob this morning and allegedly saw his shadow. As we all know, that means we're in for six more weeks of winter. Sigh.
I say Punxsutawney Phil "allegedly" saw his shadow because, as it turns out, Groundhog Day isn't just a weather forecasting tool (and a funny Bill Murray movie), it's also a vast Gobbler's-wing conspiracy. It seems nobody really knows or cares if Phil sees his shadow or not every year. The result is determined in advance by 14 poobahs from the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club, collectively known as the Inner Circle (sorta like a groundhog Illuminati).
My friends, we've been scammed. The little groundhog can't predict the weather. Double sigh. Say it ain't so.
This brings to mind another famous weather forecasting tool, Al Gore, who recently emerged from his energy-sucking mansion in Tennessee to inform us the earth will only support human life for four more years due to global warming climate change. The Goreacle's Illuminati are referred to by the acronym IPCC, which I think stands for International Purveyors of Carbon Credits (or something like that). The IPCC consists of 2,500 scientists who are certain that global warming climate change isn't just a theory, it's a fact. Since 2,500 scientists could never be wrong (even though they were wrong about global cooling in the 1970's), who are we to question them ? We're just peons, and they are SCIENTISTS. Case closed. As the Goreacle says, "the debate is over." Let's kill all the cows (the number one source of "unnatural" carbon dioxide emissions) and run all our vehicles on solar or wind power (also referred to as "peddling").
Like Forrest Gump, that's all I have to say about that.
Well, except for a few other inconvenient truths I'd like to share, such as…
- The planet has experienced no global warming since 1998. During that time, the Earth has cooled. (link)
- Over 31,000 American scientists say there is no convincing evidence of man-made global warming, or evidence that it will cause catastrophic weather changes on the Earth. (link) This brings up a mathematics question. Are 31,000+ American scientists more than 2,500 IPCC scientists ?
- IPCC scientists have been caught promoting fraudulent data to promote their global warming hypothesis (link)
- The proposition that Greenland's ice sheet is shrinking is suspect, and the Antarctic ice is growing (link)
Now, I'm the first one to admit I don't have the answers, but neither does Al Gore (who is NOT a scientist, btw). The debate is not over, so when you hear the Goreacle say something like this:
"[Global warming] would bring a screeching halt to human civilization and threaten the fiber of life everywhere on the earth….If we stopped global greenhouse gas emissions today, according to some scientists … we would [still] see an increase in temperatures that many scientists believe would be extremely challenging for civilization…If we continue at today's levels, some scientists have said it can be an increase of up to 11 degrees Fahrenheit." – Al Gore testifying in front of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee last week.
There really should be an accompanying laugh track.
The bad news is, President Barack Obama buys into the Goreacle's future shock scenario, unproven though it is. Obama would implement the onerous cap and trade system to control carbon emissions, and his stimulus bill contains lots of money to combat global warming (how will that stimulate the economy again ? The point keeps eluding me).
But Obama doesn't believe in global warming when it comes to HIS lifestyle. He's been turning up the White House thermostat, because, darn it, it's COLD outside (cue the laugh track):
"He's from Hawaii, O.K.?" said Obama's senior adviser, David Axelrod. "He likes it warm. You could grow orchids in there."
You see, Obama only believes in global warming when it comes to YOUR lifestyle:
"We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times, and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK." – Barack Obama, May 2008.
Do as I say, not as I do.
Same as it ever was. It's Groundhog Day all over again.

I watched the performance of Punxatawney Phil this morning and the CNN people discussed the fact that he couldn't have seen his shadow because of the clouds at Gobbler's whatever, and that spring officially begins about 6 weeks from now. I think we have all been taken in by that story but my the crowd of people that was out for the "prediction"!!!
Just before coming here I read some garbage from a "warmer" and when I checked his link found that he had linked us to a "warmer" publication. I learned that a certain kind of penguin will be extinct in Antarctica by 2100 and that life on Earth will probably over by 2050 at the present rate. The penguins will be extinct after all the rest of us are gone!!!! Of course all this didn't show up in the same article but there it was in the publication.
Do you remember AussieMale? He tells me that it gets very hot there in the summer and that it has been worse lately. (It is summer there right now). Anyway such a great article about how hot it is there. Somehow they never think about winter here in the farther north region. I wonder if those poor people in Kentucky are worried about old Algore and his friends these days.
Did you mean to say that 31,000 scientists can outvote 2500 grant money grabbers? Well sure you did but warmers don't believe that at all. Have you asked any denizens of the east coast of the US how much higher the water comes on their coast from all that glacial melt in Greenland? It is interesting to see their answers.
My usual rant!!!
We sit here and argue who is right who is wrong and often your side is worse than mine.
Mesnwhile the political elite rake it in. The take and perks grow yearly.
I complain about the lobbyists and tax-cheats Obama has backed but that doesnt make him any better or worse than what has become before.
Look at Daschle. He has make over $500,000 a year since leaving the Senate and that doesnt include his wife who is a big time lobbyist. He served on multiple boards and his law firm in Washington has raked in millions. What does he have to offer? Access and the knowledge to let his "clients" know who and how much. Does that make him any wose than others? Hell no he is just playing the game that is there to play. Sure there a few isolated objections in Washington to this corrupt behaviour but vey few. I dont hear much real outrage or opposition to these crooks from the Reps. There is to much money to be made and assistance in getting relected from all the special interets to object. The avergae citizen has little voice and is merely an annoyance to Washington. So what do we do? Bitch and moan about the other side while the power of money shuts our voices out.
Folks just wait untill the carbon credit game starts. Money will be pouring into Washington in numbers I cant even comprehend. My suggestion is to title the carbon credit bill "The congressional Full Pocket Bill"
Think about it folks only ONE Senator nominated for a cabinet post has ever been denied the post. We can object all day long but they close ranks and do what serves their interest.
angryc,
You're gonna like my next post.
D.C. is indeed a racket, and the American people are the marks.
Well King I gotta disagree with you on this one. The vast majority of credible scientists, those who publish in peer reviewed journals, agree that the earth is getting warmer and man-made CO2 is a major cause of the warming. Not all of the warming but significant. I would suggest that you check the list of 31,000 scientists you quote and see how many support intelligent design as well. Just because the messengers are hypocrites doesn't make the message wrong. Beside if the global warming people are wrong we still are buying less oil from Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Iran, Russia, etc. Is that a bad thing? As the recent run up in gas prices over the summer showed people won't change their energy habits until the price of gas reaches about $3.50/gallon , so I say set gas at $3.50/gallon and use the extra money to fund research to get us off of oil.
Bubba,
I'm not against alternative energy, as long as it's viable.
I was mainly trying to say the climate change debate is not over. I could have used many other sources in addition to the few I cited. As for the credibility of the anti-warming sources, I could turn that around and ask how many of the global warmers funding depends on them finding that man-made global warming is real ? Al Gore has hundreds of millions at stake in that game himself.
Standing ovation for Bubba.
