The states with the highest foreclosure rates are....Calif., Nev., Ariz., and Fla.

Those states are also hyper house construction zone states.....where much of the speculative house building and flipping went on. That isn't sub-prime.

And to Robin: Sorry, what?

Naw...Queenie!

No "Republican financial meltdown" here...only the realization of all the thieving pricks with a vested interest in "AN UNREGULATED CAPITALIST ECONOMIC SYSTEM", eh, buttecup?

Um...fyi, sweatpea! It was announced early on that the big-money interests had representatives in both the political camps of O'bama and Clinton, let alone the Republicans! In fact, it was reported that one certain, filthy-rich "financial family" located in Chicago was one of the major proponents of the "sub-prime" mortgage market and that each had representatives "vedded"(ain't that the quaint catch frase of the day?) in both Democratic camps?

Of course, we all know just how "punked" the Bush Administration was by the likes of Haliburton and Blackwater..."mission accomplished"..."bring it on"...and all those other quaint "skull & bones" cheers!

Tom,
We drew straws to see who would be the wingnut blogger, and I lost. Sorry I'm so woefully stupid, but at least I didn't say something as dumb as referring to the current economic crisis as a "Republican financial meltdown," as if no Democrat had a hand in it. Now, that's world class ignorance right there.

By my math Obama will be 3 times better than Bush. Bush wasted $50 million on his last corination and Obama is spending over $150 million. The math is simple.

Tom,
To date, the cost of the Iraq War is just over $600 billion.

http://zfacts.com/p/447.html

The cost of all the bailouts and lost investments is approaching $8 trillion, and it isn't over yet.

http://money.cnn.com/2009/01/06/news/economy/where_stimulus_fits_in/?postversion=2009010610

I know which one bothers me the most.

[/quote Da King]

$600 Billion may be the cost of the war to date, but it does not count the cost of finishing the occupation or caring for the 10,000 or so disabled soldiers that you republicans caused. $10 million each would be a sum of $100 Billion. 10^4 X 10^7 => 10^11. That's ten with eleven zeros.

And the cost of the republican financial meltdown has absolutely nothing to do with Obama's economic stimulus package.

That was a wholly stupid remark. How was it that the Beacon Journal selected *you* to be their RW pundit/sort of person? I am sure that you could not survive in any job that needed an *editor*.

And further, a nod to Big Mac (yay): Republican government has given us nothing but relaxed, pro-corporate non-enforcement of regulations. Poisoned food, anyone?

Yep King I agree with ya de regulated government caused most of these evils. If neo-cons had left alone the the New Deal regulatory laws. It would have been impossible for the housing bubble to burst because you could not have created it. Banks would not have been able to create CDO's because that broken the law. What has caused this nightmare is not that some Americans did not pay their mortgage. What created it is called gambling with other peoples money. Large institutions gambled got burned and jumped out of the game thereby creating the need for the bail outs and the loss of market capitalization. Please no what you are talking about before you post, blog or in your case DA King breathe.

And do you fellas yet realize that government is the primary cause for what you are complaining about ??? Not just Republicans, not just Democrats, but government as a whole. Congress approved the Iraq War (that includes Democrats). Both parties pushed the housing bubble along until it blew up, and they patted themselves on the back every step of the way.

Like Diogenes, I'm looking for an honest man (or woman). Anyone ?

Rev,
You forgot to thank me for the plug.

But I knew you'd be good for a theory.

Btw, I have complained about deficit spending all along. You, on the other hand, only complain about it when Republicans do it. When a Democrat does it, you turn about 180 degress and call it proper, even CHANGE. Hilarious.

And from your post, I can see you aren't about to hold Obama accountable for anything he does for the next 4 years. It will all be Bush's fault. Some things never CHANGE.

I'm psyched too! Gobama!!

When Bush wasted trillions of dollars on the Iraq War, that is money that money was lost to the economy. It caused no economic benefit.

On the other hand, Obama's borrowing of a trillion dollars will be used to start construction programs, extend unemployment benefits, and keep people in their homes. That money will stay in the US economy and bootstrap future growth.

Gobama! USA! USA! USA!

My Holy Title was brought up in King's post.....so I thought it proper to respond.

It is true that the GOP, in it's present cancerous form, seeks to destroy America. At least, the America defined by the Constitution.

The real America understands torture as illegal and repugnant. The GOP understands torture as an essential tool in keeping us safe. For over 200 years we obviously were not safe, according to modern GOP'ers. Obama seeks to return America to it's pre-W. form. That would be "change".

The real America understands that insuring the economic well being of it's, you know, working citizens....is the only way to strenthen America, the country, economically. The modern GOP believes that only insuring the economic well being of wealthy Americans makes us strong. Obama seeks to "change" that.

The honest, non-wingnutted, Americans realize that W. has doubled the national debt in 8 years and that we don't even have a tee shirt to show for it....a total waste. Modern GOP'ers, up until Obama was elected, didn't give one sh*t about deficit spending....cheering ever more deficit increasing tax cuts while waging expensive wars of adventurism...again with nothing to show for it.

Predictably, dishonest extremists on the right, now that a Democrat is president, and Bush has left the country in economic shambles, are returning to their, again, dishonest, roots of frugality and fiscal responsibility....as if they have been under hypnosis the last 8 years. Convenient....but anti-American....and dishonest. Obama will seek to "change" that.

I could write the wingnut narrative right now for the next 4 years.....that's what never changes.

King, and others, would have you believe that spending more money now is wrong and will be counter-productive. And if for some freak reason, we don't go ahead and spend money right now.....and the country winds up resembling Albania in a couple years...then THAT will be Obama's fault.

Heads Republicans win....tails Democrats lose.

The propaganda must stop. Come to think of it....that would respresent change.

I did TBomb. I think he had to hold back what he really wanted to say. I think he wanted to go "Blagojovich" on them. Over the course of his term in office many of those people did more to hurt the moral of our country and risk the security and safety of it's citizens than many of our enemies. They told more lies and spun more tales than any other press in history. They divided our country with their lies and stories. Even if they didn't know the truth they made it up as long as it sold advertising or was benefit to their cause or the cause of their special interest. They blamed him for every problem we have. You would think that he was the only one in Washington and that there were no administrations before him. When lies are told and amplified like they told, the country will fall. Just look at Marx, Castro and Hitler and their media's effects on the citizens of their countries.

Bush wasn't the greatest president but history will show he wasn't the worst. He did the best with what he had available to him. Sad thing, now it will be the conservative press' turn to take shots at Obama like they did Clinton. However, like Clinton many of his mistakes and short-comings will be covered up. The citizens of the United States will never know the truth of what is happening in our country especially now that the internet and conspiracy theorists have gotten so big. Have you ever read some of the websites some of the contributers on here use a references. Art Bell and George Nory's guests make more sense and are more believable. Scarey.

ben and larry,
Yes, by adding "saved" to his job numbers, Obama could create no jobs at all, and then claim that he "saved" millions of them. I'd love to hear him try to pass that off as legitimate. I don't know if he could even fool the NY Times with that.

Speaking of Change, he's also changed his tune on the jobs front. He's now going to 'save' zillions of jobs, not necessarily create them.
