in Uncategorized, presidential race

If Barack Obama wins the presidency in november, and the Democrats maintain control of both houses of Congress, there will be a massive ideological shift in government. Not just Democrats, but LIBERAL Democrats, will run the whole show. This hasn't been seen since the days of FDR or LBJ, who gave us the New Deal and Great Society policies, respectively. I suggest that Obama come up with a name for his policies, like FDR and LBJ did. Since The One hasn't done that yet, I have some suggestions of my own. I think BO should call his economic scheme AMERICA – THE NEW FRANCE, or maybe SOCIALISM FOR DUMMIES. How about a THOUSAND POINTS OF LEFT ?
—-
Obama's pet media has descended upon poor Joe the plumber like a pack of snarling wolves, and have torn through his personal life. Just like they did to Sarah Palin. Does this say anything about what an Obama presidency would be like ? Will the media help to silence Obama critics by mischaracterizing or exaggerating their words, as they have during this campaign ? Will they cover up and/or ignore Obama's mistakes, as they have during this campaign ? John McCain had it right when he said, “Americans ought to be able to ask Senator Obama tough questions without being smeared and targeted with political attacks.” Yes, they certainly should, but that isn't the world we live in. The media thinks it's job is to discredit anybody who criticizes their hero.

Speaking of the media trying to discredit people, remember the left wing rage the media generated when they reported that a member of the crowd at a Palin campaign stop allegedly yelled out "kill him", which was allegedly directed toward Obama ? That led lots of Democrats to make allegations of racism toward the GOP. Obama even brought it up in the last presidential debate. It was supremely stupid to color McCain, Palin, and the GOP as racist due to a couple random shout-outs from the crowd in the first place, but as it turns out, the original charge isn't even true. Nobody at the Palin rally yelled out "kill him." The Secret Service reviewed the tapes, and concluded what was shouted out at one rally was "tell him", not "kill him", and at another rally the Secret Service said no comment anything like "kill him" was made (link). I can't wait for all the forthcoming apologies from the media, Democrats, and Obama. Not that they will ever come.

In my last post, I contended that McCain won the third presidential debate decisively. Two new polls came out yesterday. An AP poll had it Obama 44, McCain 42. A Gallup poll of registered voters had it Obama 46, McCain 44. Other polls have Obama further ahead, but they weren't done after the debate. The new polls show McCain closing the gap. Sounds like McCain got a debate bump to me. You don't do that by losing.

The unintentionally hilarious Democratic VP candidate, Joe Biden, appeared on the NBC Today Show, talking about Joe the plumber. Biden said "I don't know any Joe the plumbers in my neighborhood who make over $250,000. The Joe the plumbers in my neighborhood, the Joe the cops in my neighborhood, the Joe the grocery store owners in my neighborhood…they make less than $250,000 a year."

FYI – Joe Biden lives on a $3 million compound. There AREN'T any plumbers, cops, or small grocery store owners living in Biden's neighborhood.

Bonus Biden quote: "Look, John's last-minute economic plan does nothing to tackle the number-one job facing the middle class, and it happens to be, as Barack says, a three-letter word: jobs. J-O-B-S, jobs."

I'm no Einstein, but doesn't "JOBS" have four letters ?

From the 'Boundless Ego' files – Can you BELIEVE that Barack Obama complained that he'd be 2-3 points higher in the polls were it not for FoxNews ? RIIIIIIIGHT. Like Obama doesn't have ENOUGH of a media advantage already. As Newsbuster's publisher Brent Bozell rebutted, "Okay, Sen. Obama, we will cede you the point that the Fox News Channel, by accurately portraying you and your record, has brought you down 2-3% in the polls. Now it's time for you to concede that were it not for NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, Time, Newsweek, the New York Times, the Washington Post, USA Today, the Los Angeles Times, the Chicago Tribune, etc., etc., etc. Sen. John McCain would be up by 20%."

Amen.

If Obama wins, maybe he will amend the Fairness Doctrine to outlaw FoxNews so he won't have to be bothered with ANY media opposition for his re-election campaign.

Dos Vadanya.

People have been asking Obama questions for the last 2 years ..but Palins been now kept out of the media. And Obamas done a pretty good job answering them.
As for Joe the conservative republican registered Plumber who happened to be at a Obama rally that all seems a bit odd to me. And a unlicensed one too who plans to earn more than 250k hmmmmm . My guess is he went there thinking Obam was going to tax everyone then he couldn't make his case.
Personally if Obama gets elected maye we can dig ourselves out of the hole we are in from the republicans . We can go back to jobs here at home by spending on fixing our bridges ..we can maybe get some health care and end a war that is draining us each day. Or we can elect MC SAME and his dingbat.

da truth October 18, 2008 at 8:58 am

Please stop with this liberal media bias junk. You know it isn't true. Have you turned on a radio or a TV in the last 10 years?

http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2008/05/28/mcclellan/

And I guess the disasta from Alaska hasn't misspoke before either:

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/10/17/to_avoid_being_depressed_palin.html

Or maybe she meant that. If Ohio ends up going for Obama, does that make you and I un-American?

And if you didn't want Joe the Plumber to be exposed, you should have told Mr. McCain to portray him accurately:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3F6iVaU1TOY

Does Joe admit Obama's plan would cut his taxes? Why, yes!

Yet, at least in your blog, we see no mention of Mr. McCain's lies. Must be becasue of your bias, being in the media and all.

"McCain likes to say that he isn’t George W. Bush – and in this case of bungled public relations, it is clear he is not. The famously-disciplined Bush campaign operation would likely have found the perfect anonymous citizen to illustrate a policy proposal, rather than spontaneously wrap itself around an unknown entity with so many asterisks.

While the arc of Wurzelbacher’s breakneck trip through the news cycle – from private citizen to insta-celebrity to political target – offers a curious insight into the political media culture, it also appears to offer a glimpse into the McCain campaign’s on-the-fly decisionmaking style.

A McCain source said Thursday that the campaign read about Wurzelbacher on the Drudge Report, while another campaign aide confirmed that he was not vetted."

-Politico

Again, as in 2000, John McCain shows incredibly poor judgment in decision making and in running a campaign. If you are going to make someone the centerpiece of something as important as a presidential debate, wouldn't you take a few minutes to check him out? No, instead you rely on a biased internet reporter. Genius. Glad to see your using Bozell as your beacon of truth. That shows us your true colors.

Ghost of Vince Foster October 18, 2008 at 10:11 am

King,

If B. Hussein Obama gets elected — which is doubtful — his presidency would be more like that fascist Woodrow Wilson (a Dim) except that Wislon was an anti-Negro bigot whereas BO is an anti-white bigot.

The Reverend October 18, 2008 at 11:06 am

4 a.m.?

What's up with that? Sleepless nights over an Obama presidency?

It simply is not true that Congress wll be run by liberals. It isn't. Democrats will definitely have a good sized majority…but Democrats come in many flavors and liberal is the flavor of only a small portion. And then there's the Blue Dogs.

McCain plays his stunts, Palin…Joe,….complete unknowns…..and then if the media tries to find out about these personalized stunts…..the media is accused of savaging the stunt people. Bashing the media is, in itself, a GOP stunt. Transparently ridiculous media bashing. I bash media….but I bash them for their refusal to tell the truth….not for asking questions.

Palin's crowds have ginned up hate. It is clear from the Strongsville, Ohio crowd that the extremists are not shy about calling Obama a terrorist. The woman at McCain's rally who said Obama was an Arab is indicative of the nuttiness and scariness brewing in the GOP camp right now.

Finally….without FOX News, more Americans would know more truth instead of the phony narratives FOX hatefully spews out 24/7. Same is true of Rush.
FOX viewers, it has been empirically proven, are less informed than any other network viewers. That's why Obama said what he said…and what he said was true.

While the "Fairness Doctrine" probably won't work in our 500 channel reality…..something does need to be done about the intentional propaganda of FOX, Rush, Ingraham…..propaganda meant to divide us against one another.

larry d. October 18, 2008 at 5:37 pm

You lefties need to get your facts straight.

Even considering his commie tax plan, Obama's propaganda loving and media controlling ways are his creepiest characteristics.

averagejoe5 October 19, 2008 at 7:50 pm

Doesn't it seem suspicious to you that Obama can raise money almost at will. $150M. He has to be well over a billion dollars in contributions. George Soros is doing his job, as well as the rest of the foreign influences. This needs to be investigated. Who does he owe, or maybe they just love him that much

If he hadn't had this kind of money coming in he would be 30 pts down.

He is still way down in the AOL poll.

Ghost of Vince Foster October 20, 2008 at 6:49 am

If the liberal meadia was more than a propaganda arm for B. Hussein Obama, American would know the truth about this man and he'd would never have beated Comrade Hillary for the nomination.

BO would have been another sad joke like the others of his ilk — Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.

Tom B October 20, 2008 at 8:08 am

King, Racism and intolence for minorities is fueled by those who may not perceive themselves as racist. The tone of the Palin and most lately the McCain camps is one that incites these folks. Look at an earlier comment from this thread, Barrack Obama was referenced as "B. Hussein Obama". I know that that post was not yours. It is a small sample of what is happening out there as fringe elements are being excited to vote and be involved. A sad commentary of the Republican party that I once supported before they played into the evangelical "Chirstians" right wing agenda. Maybe this election will turn hte party around.

Ghost of Vince Foster October 20, 2008 at 10:02 am

When the truth hurts the libs and Dims, they cry racism.

Example: You're racist for using Obama's middle name — Hussein. But note, there is hardly a peep out of these hypocrites when a true bigot like the raving mad, Rev. Wright, who is/was B. Hussein Obama's spiritual advisor for 20-years shouts his anti-White, anti-Jew, anti-America hatred.

Oh no, to the Dims, the racist Wright is just a justifiably angry Negro from Chicago letting off steam.

Kept it up Dim. The more you shout your false accusations of 'racist,' the less effect it has. Your ugly political correctness as a mean of thought control is dying.

Dumb Red Neck October 20, 2008 at 2:13 pm

When the truth hurts the republicans resort to name calling and cry stupid. (Socialistic, fascist, elitist, communist, liberal) Or maybe they are just stupid all the time.

King. Where is that magical gallup poll that shows a 44-42 outcome? All polls I see have Obama ahead above the margin of error. And to say Fox calls it straight down the line is akin to saying that the circa 1970 Moscow Daily News fair and well rounded. I suppose you just did the typical conservative move and said well somebody told me that's how it was (there are WMD's in Iraq) so went with that.

Dumb Red Neck October 20, 2008 at 2:18 pm

Actually Ghost, we don't consider you racist. We just recognize that you have ethnocentric viewpoints. Your lack of culture keeps you from being able to recognize that not everyone in this country has to be named Billy Joe Bob Smith to be American. Oops, suppose that is elitist.

Hell, if names were such a good depiction of character Washington would never have been president. (You know because our oppressive leader's name was George, how ironic).

Ghost of Vince Foster October 20, 2008 at 2:28 pm

Dumb Red Neck — approprately named, I see — it is not I who object to or am ashamed of Obama's middle name.

It is he and you Dims who don't like to see it used.

How come? Explain — if you can.

ben keeler October 20, 2008 at 7:16 pm

Comment #1…..Biden hasnt done questions with the press for over a month. Palin talked to reporters at least twice in the last 2 days.

Da King October 21, 2008 at 5:54 am

Andrea,
Joe the plumber was NOT at an Obama rally. He was standing in his front yard playing with his kids, and Obama CAME TO JOE'S NEIGHBORHOOD. Joe walked over to ask The One a question. Yeah, that was some GOP plant, alright. I wonder how the GOP got Obama to come to Joe's house.

Da King October 21, 2008 at 6:04 am

da truth,
So, you point me to a left wing site, salon.com, to prove to me that there isn't a liberal media bias. Thanks, you've given me my chuckle for the day.

Every tv station except FoxNews is in the tank for Obama. 90% of newspapers are in the tank for Obama. And you offer talk radio as a rebuttal ? Please. You prove my point.

And what on earth is all this nonsense about how the McCain campaign didn't "vet" Joe the plumber ? That doesn't have anything to do with anything. Joe wasn't working on behalf of the McCain campaign. Joe isn't the issue. All he did was ask a question. Obama saying he wants to "spread the wealth around" is the issue. The response to Joe's question offered an insight into Obama's mindset.

Da King October 21, 2008 at 6:05 am

Vince,
You don't think Obama will be elected ? I think it's almost a sure thing.

Da King October 21, 2008 at 6:21 am

Rev,
I haven't had a president who represents my political philosophy yet, so don't worry, I won't be losing any sleep over Obama.

And the Blue Dogs are the Dem minority, not the liberals. How can you not know that and still write a political blog ?

If you keep trying to act like the comments of a couple people at a McCain or Palin rally represent the sentiments of the entire GOP, I'll keep calling you a bigot. Does Ward Churchill represent the entire Democratic party ? No, I don't think so. Same thing here.

Just for the record, Obama DID pal around with a terrorist, not that the actual facts mean anything to you. I don't think that is necessarily an indictment of Obama, and I think it's a stupid issue for McCain/Palin to be talking about, but it is true. It's sorta like the Dems always talking about how McCain's campaign manager used to be a lobbyist, or the NY Times doing that hit piece on Cindy McCain. It doesn't mean a thing, but I don't see you condemning that stuff. Why is that ?

I think you should watch FoxNews, because your comments indicate that you don't. FoxNews always presents both the Republican and Democratic viewpoints on issues, unlike your hero Olbermann, who only presents HIS side. I get the feeling that what you really object to is that the Right's viewpoint is presented at all. That's my opinion of what Obama means by "unity" and "post-partisanship" – eliminate the opposition (Fairness Doctrine, Employee Free Choice Act). And you would go along with it. Thanks for showing us your inner fascist, Rev. It's enlightening.

Da King October 21, 2008 at 6:30 am

Tom B,
I certainly think racism still exists (though much diminished from the old days, thankfully), but I don't buy for one second that McCain or Palin are fostering it. What is really happening is that Democrats, including Obama himself, are playing a race card that doesn't exist for political gain, and their pet media picks right up on it. It's all a canard, meant to restrict the issues the Republican candidates can talk about (i.e. Ayers, Wright, etc). Meanwhile, Dems are free to talk about anything they want. If there has been any actual bigotry in this campaign, it has been directed primarily toward Palin, with some aimed at McCain too (i.e. John Lewis saying McCain was like George Wallace, a truly idiotic statement).

And this must be the first time in history that it was somehow considered racist to use a candidate's actual name (Hussein).

Da King October 21, 2008 at 6:34 am

Ben,
Isn't is curious how Biden is never criticized for not talking to the press ? Only Palin.

Ghost of Vince Foster October 21, 2008 at 7:08 am

"You don't think Obama will be elected ? I think it's almost a sure thing."

No way is it a sure thing. The polls inflate B. Hussien Obama's support.

Watch and see.

larry d. October 21, 2008 at 12:48 pm

Who knows, Vince. I seem to remember even exit polls sewing it up for Kerry on Election Day 2004. Some people tell pollsters what they want to hear, and I'll bet your run of the mill tele-pollster is all about Obama.

The Reverend October 21, 2008 at 3:30 pm

Up is down. Iraq had WMD. Plame wasn't a covert CIA agent. Rove's "Math" was the correct math….and now…..Obama's landslide win, predicted by all polling averages….isn't a win at all.

Well, I suppose….if that brings comfort to sore and bruised consciences.

The Reverend October 21, 2008 at 3:39 pm

Oh yeah…and King….

Plumber Sam came to an Obama event…..where he cornered Obama for the FOX gotcha moment.

Obama didn't come to Plumber Sam's neighborhood.

And another thing…..I mentioned the Blue Dogs because they dilute any tidbit of, you know, liberalness, that just might, by accident, seep out in any legislation. I mentioned them to negate your silly comment about the scary liberal Congress to come.

To actually have a liberal Congress, Democrats would need to replace a good third, if not more, of their current members with, like, liberal Democrats.

To actually save an America in decline…..it will take a generation long effort of voting for more and better Democrats.

Averagejoe5 October 21, 2008 at 5:54 pm

"Isn't is curious how Biden is never criticized for not talking to the press ? Only Palin."

They can't afford to let him out. He is the Quayle wannabe of this election, not Palin. He is so lucky he has a sympathetic press. LOL have you heard his latest remarks about the US being challeged if Obama wins?

Sometimes I think he is trying to help out his old friend and comrade, John McCain.

Obama will win this election only on economic issues. The press and his camp know that, that is why the only focus of this election is the economy. If they bring up foreign policy and defense, Obama is doomed.
People may trust him with their cash, but not the lives of them or their families.

Speaking at a rock concert or a photo op in London or growing up in what ever country he decides is convenient at the time he is speaking, does not make a candidate a leader in world politics.

The latest gaffes and mistakes by both Dems have hurt them. Starting with Obama and the Plumber and then the investigation of the plumber by the press. (Are you kidding me? The Dems talk about Nazi tactics? They are "projecting" again. Investigating a regular citizen for asking a question. It was Obama's fault the way he answered, not the plumbers). Then Bidens fear mongering and the way the press tried to cover it up, nice try MSNBC. LOL, even though he is right. (They really are going to test him. Do you trust him? Really?) It's like putting lipstick on a pimple. You just don't need to emphasize certain things. Especially his lack of any kind of emergency high pressure life or death leadership situations, we just went through this.

The AOL poll has gone to crap for Obama/Biden. They didn't recover this week, even though there are almost 150,00 votes. This week there are 0 undecided voters and McCain is up by 12 points.

ben keeler October 21, 2008 at 6:13 pm

King, unfortunately it is not surprising they are after Palin for not talking to the press, when she is the one who does and Biden does not. That is how they operate. NBC News wont even air his full quote from the other day in Seattle that is making news. Kind of tells you waht you need to know.

The Reverend October 22, 2008 at 11:57 am

average:

Keep hooked up to that AOL lifeline.

NBC/WSJ poll, fresh last night…..Obama up by 10%

The press doesn't find that covering Biden is very, you know, ratings enhancing. Main media gets better ratings when they present the pretty Sarah Palin as often as possible.

Of course, that's all okay with conservative Republicans, as long as Biden doesn't get away with any "gotcha" moments in the process. That's what Ben and average's complaint is about…..they don't want to see and hear more of Biden….only the gotchas.

Da King October 23, 2008 at 6:32 am

No Rev, Joe the plumber was standing in front of his own house when he talked to Obama. Obama came to him. Sorry to blow up your phony liberal talking point, but that's the way it was. Look at the youtube video, you'll see the houses in the background. It wasn't an Obama rally. Obama came to Joe's neighhorhood.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRPbCSSXyp0

"To actually save an America in decline…..it will take a generation long effort of voting for more and better Democrats"

That sounds like a combination of a pre-emptive excuse for Obama and a call for socialism. Not far enough left for ya yet, eh ?

Da King October 23, 2008 at 6:41 am

averagejoe,
I agree with everything you said. The press covers up for Biden. It's almost comical how all the press ever says about Biden is how he's SOOOO experienced. They never mention that he's been wrong about almost every big foreign policy issue this country has faced in the last three decades, which is supposed to be his prime area of expertise. Not to mention the fact he's a gaffe machine.

Biden STILL thinks partitioning Iraq into three countries is the right way to go.

roysoldboy October 24, 2008 at 10:04 am

I have been unavailable for several days but really thought I might see some reference to the new nickname Palin has given Obama. The other day she decided that from his recent words he must be Barack the Wealth Spreader. He did tell that to Joe and then on Monday or Tuesday I heard him defending paying back all the income withholding taxes which the law allows now but he also said that in addition he wanted to help those of the 40 – 45% of non-taxpahers with their other taxes and mentioned payroll taxes, property taxes, and sales taxes. I think somebody failed to tell the poor boy that the US does not charge property taxes or general sales taxes. The payroll taxes are income, social security, and Medicare.

I guess from the looks of what he wants to do he must think that he can spread the wealth out to that equality of condition that he learned so much about back in Hawaii with Frank and in Chicago with Saul. I wonder if he really thinks the wealthy people can be made equal to the poorer people in just 4 years. He may well be the best Spreader the world has known. However, I see him as more of a manure spreader than a wealth spreader.

Frank Clemente November 3, 2008 at 11:24 am

Obama says his plan will “bankrupt the coal industry” and electric rates will
“Skyrocket”—Ohio Voters should recognize the benefits of coal to their
pocketbook and quality of life. Coal : Provides 85% of the Ohio’s Electricity. Has Kept Ohio’s Electric Rates 14% Below the US Average. Provides 12,000 coal based jobs, $484 million in income and $1.4 billion in economic output. Coal Comes from Ohio. Over 60% or our oil is Imported From Foreign Nations. And Russia, Iran, and Venezuela Have 46% of the Natural Gas. Frank Clemente, Ph.D.
