Who Is Smearing Whom ?

Posted June 13th, 2008 by Da King

michelle obama

Barack Obama's people have put up a website dedicated to answering some of the sillier internet rumors about Obama, such as the one about Obama being a Muslim. You can link to the site here. There is some pretty stupid stuff floating around the web about Obama.

One particular rumor that has made it's way beyond the internet to other media outlets is the Michelle Obama "whitey" rumor, the one that has Mrs. Obama using that term to describe white people. I've heard a couple variations of it. I mention this rumor here not because I believe it, but because of the way Barack Obama is responding to it. Obama gives the impression on his website that this rumor was started by Republicans as a smear tactic against him. That is NOT TRUE. In responding to a smear, Obama is himself falsely smearing others. Here's what Obama's website says about the "whitey" rumor:

Smear:

Michelle Obama Says “Whitey” On a Tape
LIE: Rush Limbaugh says a tape exists of Michelle Obama using the word “whitey” from the pulpit of Trinity United

LIE: Blogger Larry Johnson writes “New and dramatic developments. This is a heads up. I'll post the news Monday morning by 0900 hours.”

LIE: Proven GOP sleazemeister Roger Stone says he has “credible evidence that some indelible record exists” of a tape of Michelle Obama using the term “whitey.”

LIE: Blogger: “Tape was filmed between June 26th - July 1st 2004 in Chicago, IL at the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition Conference at Trinity United Church: specifically the Women's Event.”

Obama lists Rush Limbaugh first, as if Rush was the perpetrator and was lying, when he wasn't. Rush only repeated that he heard the rumor, and Rush said he didn't know if there was any truth to it. Rush didn't say the tape existed, only that there was a rumor that it existed. Rush didn't tell a lie. Obama's website is the one lying here.

The first person I heard mention this rumor was DEMOCRATIC STRATEGIST Bob Beckel on the Hannity and Colmes show on FoxNews. Beckel said he had four solid sources for the existence of the "whitey" tape. Both conservative Sean Hannity and liberal Alan Colmes acted shocked when Beckel mentioned it.

The primary internet source for this rumor was LEFT-WING blogger and Hillary supporter Larry Johnson of No Quarter. Obama mentions Johnson on his site, but no mention of his political orientation. Obama does make sure to mention the political affiliation of "GOP sleazemeister Roger Stone" however (whoever the heck he is. I never heard of him before). Also, the fourth "Liar" identified only as "Blogger" on Obama's website is a pro-Hillary blogger, whose site is known as Hillbuzz.

So, what we have here is a rumor about Michelle Obama that was started by the Left, which was later picked up and repeated by some on the Right, and is now being framed by Obama and others as a right wing smear job. Yup, sounds typical to me. Typically dishonest.

Btw, Barack Obama is not a Muslim, but he did attend an Islamic school for a little while as a child.

And to my knowledge, there is no truth to the rumor that Obama plans to surround West Virginia, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Ohio with a huge 30ft fence to keep all us bitter people away from the other good people.

Your faithful rumormonger, over and out.

Isn't it grand what people will do in the name of politics to further their story. I was wondering how Johnson's names was so prominent because of the direction he leans. Thanks for pointing out where he comes from.

You don't suppose he would extend that fence to Kansas since he would have to separate Iowa, his beginning place, in so doing do you? I don't think he has to worry about carrying Kansas in the general election even though he did carry our caucus like he did the Iowa caucus and all the other caucuses.

I sure hope he doesn't extend that fence.

    King, you said:

"as if Rush was the perpetrator and was lying."

Yet, if you read what is on the site, that you yourself quoted, that's not what it says at all. It says Limbaugh says the tape exists. How is that making Limbaugh the perpetrator???

  3. Da King Says:

I don't know Roy, Obama probably thinks you sound bitter too, since you aren't voting for him. What reason could there be not to vote for Obama except bitterness ? You might have to be included inside the fence.

  4. balladeer Says:

Tape or no tape, I'd bet money she's used the term on plenty of occasions. You don't attend a radical/racist black liberation theology church for twenty plus years without being indoctrinated on how to refer to the White Devils.

I can't wait for someone to ask her if she's ever used the term. Her saying "no" would be like Bill Clinton saying he "didn't inhale".

  5. roysoldboy Says:

Maybe like Bill "Bubba" Clinton waving his index finger in the eye of the camera and telling us he did not have sex with that woman.

Balledeer, I am waiting on something like you suggested but it will have to be someone from the MSM when it happens and they have too much invested in an Obama victory to ever ask anything like that. As long as they stay from Fox they are safe, but she has to have used a term like "Whitey" as it is really mild compared to many things she has to have heard in that church over the 20 years. We have seen signs of her racism before and will certainly see them again before November if anybody ires her enough for her to forget herself.

  6. roysoldboy Says:

King, it is obvious that I am a racist since I not only won't vote for him, but am doing all I can, in my limited way, to keep him from being elected to anything. da truth got me off looking at his website and I ended up on a supposed Kansas Obama blog and retrieved the only comment on the site to their pushing of his new song. I think I might like to meet this guy who posted this comment.

…you are using this blog as a source of free advertizing. If you are a devoted Obama supporter you should use this site to offer your insights and comments, not to continually promote your product.***

And yet they continue to try to get us to record their newest song about the man. This guy may well be one of the million or so Kansans that won't be voting for the socialist b*sta*d next fall.

Hey guys, I ran across this little dandy about the "Whitey" reference and find that I agree with the Texas Darlin on what is going on. Maybe everybody should read this page and what is around it. Well, it is a blog but this is a blog, too, isn't it?

  8. Da King Says:

    da truth,
I already explained this. Obama put Rush's quote up front, and told a lie about what Rush actually said in order to give the IMPRESSION that this is a GOP smear. Obama does this intentionally, which is enhanced by the fact that Obama's website doesn't mention the political affiliation of the left wing bloggers, and also doesn't mention that it was the left wingers who started the 'whitey' rumor. All Rush did was acknowledge the rumor.

  9. Da King Says:

    Roy,
So Michelle Obama said "“whitey” is simply not a word that African Americans of her generation tend to use — or that she herself would ever say" ?

I'm a little older than Mrs. Obama, and I've used the word "whitey" myself, though I'm not African-American. I guess Mrs. Obama prefers the term "honkey" then, lol.

And the Obama's former church seems to make a pretty big deal out of people being white or black, from what I've heard.

  10. roysoldboy Says:

    King,
If we can believe our eyes and ears those words have been used in her church long enough to creep into her vocabulary.

The part that the Texas Darlin had to say that interested me had to do with her Master's Thesis and Stokley Carmicheal as a mentor to her back then. How does she keep words of racist attack like whitey from entering her vocabulary being around people like him? I just don't understand that, at all.

  11. The Reverend Says:

    Let's see…

I've heard rumored that conservatives are conservatives because of having had sex with their own family members.

Don't know if it's true, of course, but it's out there.

I've heard gossip, don't know if it's true, that John McCain has out of wedlock black children. I think the rumors came from Republican activists. I'm not saying, naturally, that McCain does, in fact, have out of wedlock black children, but the rumor is out there.

Obviously, I could continue all day listing these rumors and gossip I've "heard".

  12. balladeer Says:

The Reverend says that conservatives have had sex with their own family members.

The Reverend says that McCain has out of wedlock black children.

Oh wait…he didn't say that at all. But in Obamaspeak, he said it!

    Get the point, Reverend?

  13. frank Says:

This blog sounds like a bunch of old ladies gossiping with each person adding a little more hyperbole to the story until they are all scandalized by it sufficiently.

  14. Da King Says:

    Rev,
Perhaps you don't realize it, but you have only added to the rumors generated by the left wing. Remember, the Michelle Obama "whitey" rumor came from the LEFT, which was the point of my post. I bet y'all spend your afternoons watching soap operas.

I wonder why none of the left of center people here condemned Obama for misleading people about the origin of the "whitey" rumor ? Of course, they never condemned him for attending a racist church for 20 years either. That is telling. Hmmm.

  15. Da King Says:

    Update to this story:
Several mainstream media sources are spreading the disinformation that it was conservatives who originated the Michelle Obama "whitey" rumor. They are ABC, the NY Times (naturally), Time magazine, The Guardian, and the Associated Press. Liars, one and all.

    http://hotair.com/archives/2008/06/15/again-abc-blames-conservative-bloggers-for-the-michelle-obama-tape-rumor/

Not that the mainstream media has a liberal bias or anything, lol.
