Obama Abandons Reality

special interests

I want to stop talking about Barack Obama so much, I really do, but the man just won't keep his mouth shut, and every time he opens it lately, garbage pours out. I couldn't ignore this. Listen to this stuff he said about John McCain, from the Associated Press:

"Just look at what he said last week. John McCain gave a whole speech about what he'd do to make Washington work, but he didn't even mention the corporate lobbyists who are the main reason it doesn't work," Obama said. "He says he's against earmarks. Well, who does he think is slipping those pork projects into our laws? He says he's against waste. Well, who does he think is promoting it, waste in government? He says he's for opening up government. Well, who does he think is keeping it closed?"

Obama wants to talk about earmarks ? Fine, let's talk about earmarks.

John McCain requested NO earmarks for the fiscal year 2008. ZERO. I don't know how McCain could do any better than that. John McCain has been the biggest anti-earmark guy in Congress for years.

As for "who is slipping those pork projects into our laws", it's politicians like Barack Obama, that's who. Obama requested 100 earmarks for the fiscal year 2008, totalling $300 million. Obama has requests for $3 million for planetarium equipment, $200,000 for a new theater for plays, $8,500,000 for an asian carp barrier, $500,000 for marina improvements, $1,000,000 for a children's museum, $3,000,000 for a park, $4,000,000 for a reading program (don't schools already teach kids to read ? Just asking), $1,000,000 for expansion of an indigenous people's exhibit, and on and on. Here's the complete list. Obama has also requested earmarks for the hospital where Obama's wife works. An administrator at that hospital said Michelle Obama was "worth her weight in gold". No doubt. Mrs. Obama was promoted and her hospital salary tripled about the same time Barack entered the U.S. Senate. That was all entirely coincidental, I'm sure.

Obama wants to talk about corporate lobbyists ? Fine, let's talk about corporate lobbyists.

Obama is making a dustup about the fact that McCain has two people working for his campaign who were corporate lobbyists in the past. They are no longer corporate lobbyists, having resigned those positions to work for McCain's campaign. Let's not forget it was John McCain who championed lobbying reform and campaign finance reform in an attempt to reduce the influence of lobbyists and special interests. I can't really even believe Barack Obama is attempting this argument against McCain. If McCain was the Obamanator, he'd say 'this is a debate I'm happy to have', because reducing D.C. corruption and special interest influence has been one of McCain's passions. He has a long record showing that.

In addition, OBAMA ALSO HAS LOBBYISTS ON HIS PAYROLL. According to The Hill:

Three political aides on Sen. Barack Obama’s (D-Ill.) payroll were registered lobbyists for dozens of corporations, including Wal-Mart, British Petroleum and Lockheed Martin, while they received payments from his campaign, according to public documents. The presence of political operatives with long client lists on Obama’s campaign contrasts with his long-held stand of campaigning against the influence of special interests.

So Obama is doing the same thing he's criticizing McCain for doing by using former corporate lobbyists. Unbelievable. I wonder why that fact didn't make it into the Associated Press story. No, I don't really wonder. I already know why. It's the same reason so many falsehoods are promoted by the mainstream media. They are in the tank for the Democratic party. Or, maybe I'm wrong and the Associated Press just couldn't locate the information. I know it took me a good 20 seconds to find it.

Next up from the Daily Obamanation is this little nugget of Messianic wisdom:

“We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK” - Barack Obama

Well, there's news. I didn't realize we had to ask other countries for permission to drive, eat, and heat our homes. Boy, life sure sounds rosy in Obama's future world, eh ? We'll be immobile, hungry, and cold, begging the UN for food and energy. Great. Sounds sort of Dickensian, like Oliver Twist.

Change You Can Believe In.

On the bright side, Obama has made some real progress on the Iranian foreign policy issue I wrote about the other day. Last week, Obama said Iran was a tiny country that wasn't a big threat to America, and now, only a few short days later, he realizes Iran is a grave threat to America. Congratulations, Mr. Obama. That must be that HOPE you keep talking about. I HOPE you figure out some more stuff real soon. I knew that 'American Foreign Policy For Dummies' book was a good purchase.

I have one other thing to say about Barack Obama today, and it's regarding Obama's whining about the GOP picking on his wife. If he doesn't want his wife's statements to be used politically, he should GET HER OFF THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL. IF SHE'S MAKING STUMP SPEECHES FOR HIM, SHE'S FAIR GAME. What is wrong with this guy ? He's starting to act like he's the Thought Police, telling people what they can and can't discuss. And what did he mean when he told the GOP to "be careful" talking about his wife ???? What's he going to do, put the GOP in the Gulag if he becomes president ?

Osama has been looking forward to debating John McCain, on the issues? The best thing he could hope for is a continuation of his pep rallies and empty hype rhetoric, as this provides the necessary camouflage.

I don't need to reiterate how McCain doesn't quite fit the mold of the conservative agenda, but his track record on earmarks is essentially untouchable. With all the scrutiny that has been applied to the out-of-control government spending, BO may have an uphill battle trying to justify such "generousity" to the public.

Re Michelle: Bill Clinton has been beaten up since day one, on the campaign trail. Is he not the spouse of a candidate? The nation has a right to know what they may be getting, in the form of a potential first "lady". With that said, it's open season on her.

As this campaign moves forward, Osama's flip-flopping is now becoming a volatile liability. Coupled with his inability to dupe midwest America,

  2. Alexander D. Says:

    addendum to previous.

Coupled with his inability to dupe midwest America, the flim-flam man's Achilles heal is now fully exposed.

With the completion of the Puerto Rico primary, I would envision Hillary capturing the popular vote and using this leverage to make her case. The sheep are quick to dismiss the impact of the pop vote, but this wasn't the case when Gore lost the 2000 election. These drones weighed the popular vote more heavily than the electoral college.

  3. ben keeler Says:

McCain can really make inroads if he talks about earmarks and the difference between him and Obama. That issue pisses a lot of people off, and they side with McCain.

  4. The Reverend Says:

No active lobbyists have been on the payroll for Obama's campaign. Go read your own link at The Hill. FORMER LOBBYISTS.

McCain has or had until just recently active lobbyists working directly for his campaign. Doing both at the same time.

Obama was absolutely right in his remarks.

You guys and the "earmarks". There's nothing wrong with earmarks as long as they are completely transparent. It's kind of silly, when you realize that that's what constituents want from their representatives….."bringing home the bacon"….as it were.

  5. The Reverend Says:

Alex: "The nation has a right to know what they may be getting, in the form of a potential first "lady". With that said, it's open season on her."

I'm sure, because of your patriotism, you would also want to include the two young First Children of the Obama's. You know, "right to know" and all. And please….be my honored guest…..make it all about an "open season" on Mrs. Obama and perhaps the litte Obamas as well.

With 82% of America believing we are on the wrong track….that "open season" idea will really be a big hit.

So far, all the silly, foolish and child-like smear attempts have all back fired…but some folks can't learn.

And talk about flim and flam…..Clinton's hallucinogetic calculus includes Michigan votes. A non-primary primary where Obama's name wasn't even printed on the ballot.

Obama wins not only delegates but popular vote as well.

  6. larry d. Says:

Lucky for Obama he kept his name off that Michigan ballot. It's a good way to keep the votes in Florida from counting, too. The 'new' politics.

  7. Earl Says:

I keep wandering why this kind of information is in many blogs but never in the press. My thoughts are that the press decided Who should be the frontrunner. Candidates may talk about change but as long as the press runs this country it will be hard to have real change.

  8. tbomb Says:

McCain has had 5 lobbyists resign from his campaign[Loeffler,Goodyear,Davenport,Burgeson and Shirley].Only Shirley[head of an anti Hillary 527] did not work for a major lobbying outfit…..some straight talking maverick that guy!

  9. Da King Says:

Yes Rev, I know Obama's campaign workers were FORMER lobbyists. I said so in my post, which you'd know had you read it. The two McCain campaign workers Obama was referring to in the article were also FORMER lobbyists. Nice try.

Also, I'm sure Obama appreciates your support of his wasting of taxpayer dollars on frivolous earmarks. I'm willing to bet the american people will view this issue differently than you do. I'm also willing to bet that if Obama was the one with zero earmarks and McCain was the one with 100 of them, your opinion would be completely the opposite.

  10. Da King Says:

    tbomb,
I think you're missing the point. The story arose due to McCain KICKING THOSE PEOPLE OFF HIS CAMPAIGN. Obama tried to draw some political blood as McCain was trying to do the right thing, a thing he didn't have to do.

  11. Da King Says:

    Rev,
Obama has a lead in the popular vote of just over 160,000 if you don't count Michigan (where Obama wasn't on the ballot, by Obama's own choice) and do count Florida (where Obama was on the ballot). The point is, by the time all the primaries are over, it is likely that Hillary will capture the popular vote if she stays in the race, even without counting Michigan. Hillary also would have won an electoral college race against Obama, which is a significant indicator of who the stronger candidate in the fall would be.

Obama is almost certain to be the Democratic nominee, because the Democrats want to unite to fight McCain, but it's disingenuous to say Hillary doesn't have a case. She does have one, and it's getting stronger and stronger, against all odds, with Hillary having won 7 of the last 11 primaries, with 5 of her 7 wins being blowouts. Hillary has done this while being vastly outspent by Obama, with many Democrats saying for months that she has no chance and should drop out of the race, and with the majority of the mainstream media not even feigning objectivity, by dissing Hillary and openly advocating for Obama. Hillary's comeback has been pretty remarkable in light of all that. Plus, the polls show her beating McCain much more handily than Obama would.

The old saying about the Dems is that if there's any way to screw up an election, the Dems will find it. They may be doing it again this time, when they've never had a bigger advantage in a national election. The anti-Bush backlash should make this a cakewalk for the Dems, but they just might lose the White House by going with Barry the rookie, who has been making tons of mistakes lately (that I am happy to point out, even if the media isn't).

  12. The Reverend Says:

Hillary has NO case. Never really did. Your popular vote numbers are ridiculous. Florida doesn't count….end of story.

And Democrats see what Hillary is made of with her use of the word assassination yesterday. Good riddance.

    President Barack Obama.

  13. Da King Says:

Okay, then never complain to me about disenfranchised voters again. Ever.

As it stands now, the Dems disenfranchised 2.5 million this time. I wonder if Floridians would agree with your statement that "Florida doesn't count" ? I'm willing to bet they don't. Michigan voters either. Every American's voice should be heard in an election. That's the "end of story", not what you said. Nice example of depraved situational ethics though, Rev.

Barack Obama - Yes We Can…Steal The Nomination. Catchy.

What's that Obama says about "fairness" ? LOL.

  14. The Reverend Says:

Here's the problem Republicans have on this topic.

How many REPUBLICAN voters were disenfranchised by Romney bowing out and McCain winning the nomination so early?

    How many?

Did all those Republican voters play ANY part in selecting the GOP candidate? No.

Are conservatives crying crocodile tears for the disenfranchised GOP voters?

Didn't think so. Much to do about nothing.

  15. Da King Says:

You first error is - REPUBLICANS don't have any problem regarding the DEMOCRATIC primary. Republicans have nothing to do with it. This is all the Democrat's ugly baby.

You ask how many Republican voters were disenfranchised when Romney dropped out ? That would be ZERO. The Republicans still held their primaries, genius. The voters could vote for anyone they liked. Romney is allowed to drop out if he wishes. What a silly non-argument.

The voters are disenfranchised when their votes affect the outcome and their votes are suppressed. Hillary/Obama is the textbook case. The clearest case I've seen in my lifetime. The Democrats are NOT democratic. Ironic, isn't it ? How strange that you should attempt to defend it. Do you care about nothing other than your candidate winning ?

    2.5 MILLION DISENFRANCHISED…IN AMERICA…SHAMEFUL

Democrats - the alleged party of civil rights, sticking up for the little guy. LOL. Not even close. The Democrats use the little guy the way the carnival barker uses the mark.
