Perhaps roy.....you could point to Reid led filibusters from 02-06. The fact is that the 06-08 GOP'ers have set new filibuster records.

You're simply biased here and think you can have your own facts. Democrats actually believe in governance. Republicans, think: Reagan, don't believe in governance. The GOP believes government is the problem....unless Reagan was wrong.

In Bush we have seen how that "government is the problem" ideology has worked. It doesn't. It's actually only an excuse for cronyism, anarchy, and destruction.

Once again.....I realize the conservative hope is for Democrats to "self-destruct". At best, it's wishful thinking.

The GOP will simply be relegated to southern state only political party, if that....for a long, long time.

***Then they will try to obstruct and undermine any governance attempts by the new Democratic majority. That's what the GOP does.

Digby has described the GOP as an "insurgent" group….and that's pretty accurate. They don't care anything about America or Americans (thing G.W. Bush), they simply and only want to stop the Democrats from being successful at their work.***

What would you describe the work of Dirty Harry and his boys in the Senate as being before they took over the Senate. Pure and simple, obstruction is how I saw them. They cared not one whit about the people and the nation as long as they could keep the Republicans from passing any legislation. Of course, you of the far left never did see his threat of filibuster like he did unless there was no chance that privatization would be brought if any kind of improvements in Social Security was proposed. Nothing but obstruction there.

I kind of hope that the Dems manage a big takeover of Congress so they can drive their agenda (far left) through sooner and get the people to understand how they have been taken by the Dems.

Rev,
I find it very humorous that you think only the GOP is obstructionist. You reinforced the very point I made in my post about how Obama thinks anyone who disagrees with him is "divisive", yet none of Obama's own disagreements are divisive. You evidently believe the same thing, ergo the demonization of the GOP as an "insurgent group" because they have different political beliefs. If one doesn't agree with a liberal, one must be demonized. Y'all crack me up with that bilge, mainly because you don't possess the capability to see the irony and hypocrisy of it. It's the mindset of the brainwashed.

I have given numerous examples on this blog why Obama is not ready to be the president. The best counter-argument you've offered to date is "yes he is". Persuasive (NOT).

Roy,
I think McCain would be a better president than Obama, though I'm no McCain fan. Since it appears the Dems are going to increase their Congressional majority in november, I think I'd rather have McCain's pushback against at least some liberal issues in place, as opposed to Obama, who will go along with anything the liberal power structure wants done, which would be very harmful to America. That damage could last decades.

Your political party is going to concede a Democratic win in the fall. They are. Then they will try to obstruct and undermine any governance attempts by the new Democratic majority. That's what the GOP does.

Digby has described the GOP as an "insurgent" group....and that's pretty accurate. They don't care anything about America or Americans (thing G.W. Bush), they simply and only want to stop the Democrats from being successful at their work.

So yes, roy, that's the plan. The GOP creatures will seek to immediately, upon Obama's inauguration, co-opt the media to only tell Americans a story about Obama and the Democrats which is entirely made up of disinformation. Then they think that their obstructionistic behavior, behavior which is indicative of a totally corrupt, self aggrandizing and ends-justify-the-means thinking....will catapult them back to power in 2012.

Ain't gonna' happen.

The GOP has defended and excused all of the crimes of Bush. The GOP controlled Congress, up to 2007, was complicit in W's crimes, helping to cover them up and stonewalling, or worse, any attempt to tell the truth to the American people (think Plame). The GOP has led out, through Rove, in propagandizing Americans more than at ANY time in modern history.

Americans have stirred from their bullsh*t War on Terror fear, are seeing events more clearly, and won't be returning the GOP to power anytime soon....if ever.

Why do you think I've written all those posts over the years? Did you think I was just kidding and exaggerating to get a rise out of conservative readers?

George W. Bush has destroyed the GOP as we have known it. I told you what was going to happen as a result of Bush being a maniac. Now what I warned would happen.....is about to happen.

Vote for the best candidate for Americans.....Barack Obama.

It is very sad that nobody who doesn't like Bush or Republicans have not noticed these things about Obama. Somehow they never seem to see him stammer and stagger when he runs past that memorized bit of material. I guess we just have too many people who want to see a change and hope he can bring it about. It gets more and more beyond my understanding that there are so many people like that.

I seriously believe that you will be able to post much more after he has been in office a couple of years with a Democrat Congress to help him along to his hoped for socialistic policies. In a couple of years many of those who hoped so hard for his promised changes will be seeing the light and ready to switch, but they will learn that they have another two years to live on hope.

The saddest thing about Obama is that he has no opposition. I don't think that McCain will be any better than Obama will so it makes little difference other than the fact that a Republican President could temper the Congress a bit, if he wanted to and I am not sure he would.
