Rev says, "The closer your death comes, the more you realize that life is not all about telling others what to do, it's really all about setting others free."

Spoken like a true believer, Rev. Calling liberal big government, high tax, socialist policy "setting others free" is a world class oxymoron. Where do come up with this stuff ? Has Castro come out with a joke book ? Low taxes, limited government, individual rights, free markets, THOSE things are about setting people free. The philosophy you embrace, modern liberalism, is all about government control. It is the refutation of freedom, leading inevitably to totalitarianism if carried to it's logical conclusion. That's why people get more conservative as they get older and WISER.

Tom asks,
"Which right wing media source gave you the idea to run the Ayers story? Or is there some fax-blast from Karl Rove's old office that has the text prewritten for you?"

Since I provided links to some of my sources Tom, even you should be able to figure it out. All non-quoted words are mine. Karl Rove isn't going to prepare anything for me to write until next week. Until then, Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter are telling me what to say. Tell Markos Moulitsas I said hello.

Attacking the messenger is pretty silly here, Tom. Ayers and Dohrn are radicals and terrorists, and now they are filling the minds of our children with their drivel. Maybe you should be more concerned with that than with some imaginary fear over Karl Rove.

Ghost---It is not "convenient" to get an abortion. It is a horrible thing for which women are stuck--perhaps it is "convenient" for some who use it as a tool for contraception, but ask any woman who has gone through with one whether it was a comfortable decision that they have gotten over---most will say, "NO".

The world needs less people--we are like a rampant, out-of-control bacteria on the face of Mother Earth. Mother Earth, in her wisdom, will take care of it for us if we don't. She will shake us all off violently in one big giant abortion---or just a slow , painful choking off of our supplies of food, water, air and soil. As a matter of fact, I think she has already started about that awful task. I say, more power to her.

Abortion = murder.

Anybody with a conscience -- man or woman -- has not only the right but the moral obligation to work to stop the wrong that is abortion.

You cannot continue to deny the right to life to unborn babies just because it is convenient for some women to do so.

As a man who impregnates a woman you have no right to tell her what to do with what is happening to her body. None.

Leave your genetic material out of her and you won't have a problem.

“Why as a Republican against governmental interference in private matters would you involve yourself in other peoples' private matters?”

Look at your irrationality. The Republican fought against slavery while the Dims supported it -- just like today’s Republicans fight, as a party, against allowing a mother the right to “off” her unborn baby for any old reason that floats into her head.

Furthermore, slavery was a private matter, so why did the North interfere with it in the South? Any answer from you or any other Dim here?

You seem to have empathy for the women, but none for the baby who is ripped apart in the abortion procedure.

Let me make it easy for you all.

Slavery denied Negroes basic human rights. And until the Civil War, it was fully constitutional. Fact.

Today, abortion denies unborn babies even a more fundamental human right -- the right to life. And since 1972 up and until this moment, the killing of unborn babies has been constitutional also.

So what is Constitutional is not necessarily not what is morally right. Come on, even dim Dims should get this; it ain‘t rocket science.

The thing I like about the abortion issue is that each side always brings interesting new points into the mix and there's always the possibility that one side or the other is going to make some headway getting the other party to agree.

Ghost--your brand of "logic" escapes me.
Do you know that most women have natural abortions and don't even know it as they happen? Babies are expelled quite often by Mother Nature---now I know this does not correlate with induced abortions, but Nature has a superior logic far above humankind---
Also, slavery and abortion are not the same at all. And as I said prior, I do not "fight" for a woman's right to abortion at all--I only said that I do not involve myself in such private matters---which as a Democrat may seem to you like an oxymoron--isn't it usually Republicans that fight against government or societal solutions to private endeavors or problems? Why as a Republican against governmental interference in private matters would you involve yourself in other peoples' private matters?

People, both male and female, should keep their pants on, and stop to think about the possible unborn being they might manufacture with their passion of the moment---not really that difficult. We all know there are other means to sexual satisfaction besides intercourse. It really is a matter of thinking ahead and putting aside the powerful but transient moment---I am not pro-abortion, but pro-thinking---not so hard.

As for slavery, that ugly thing of our ugly past---knowing myself, I would never have taken part---however, I would argue today that most of us out here are now indentured servants---indentured to credit cards, debt, low-paying jobs, political realities that we cannot seem to change, the media which manipulates our attitudes and corporate empiricists who control everything from our dwindling food supplies to our water that we drink-----scary stuff, Ghost.

Now, I appreciate your sympathy for the unborn. I understand that---it is an awful thing that a Mother would resort to such a horrific solution. But I do not tell others what to think or do---I only express my thoughts on the matter and allow others to derive their own conclusions.
