In Spite Of Them

surrender

Back in April of this year, United States super-patriot and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-alQ) said this about the Iraq war and the 'surge' plan: "I believe … that this war is lost, and this surge is not accomplishing anything, as is shown by the extreme violence in Iraq this week". Even more impressive than Harry's proclamation was the fact that he made it before the surge was even in place. Maybe he consulted Miss Cleo for the info, or maybe the DNC, Crystal Ball Division. I'm not sure, but the man sure has some impressive psychic powers. Other than being totally wrong, Reid was totally right.

Buoyed by Hangdog Harry's uplifting pro-american can-do spirit and leadership, our troops proceeded forward with the surge under the command of general David Petraeus (real american), who made a report back to Congress in September on the progress of the surge. At that time, Petraeus reported that some progress had been made in Iraq, which prompted flagwaver Hillary 'Betsy Ross' Clinton (D-PLO) to declare that Petraeus' testimony required "the willing suspension of disbelief". You'll have to excuse me for a moment, because I get all choked up when Hillary starts displaying her unwavering support for our troops like that……..she's…..so…..presidential…….cough.

Now, near the end of october, Iraqi government forces have taken over security control of another Iraqi province from the americans, attacks are decreasing, the death toll is dropping, increasing numbers of Iraqis are turning in terrorists, and Al Sadr has called for a cease-fire against US forces. Bin Laden even came out from under his rock to release a tape urging his forces to remain united, which he wouldn't have had to do unless they were in disarray. Judging from the silence, it seems the US mainstream media is unaware of most of this. The ony thing that gets their attention is body parts flying off in the wake of a bombing by some terrorist scumbag.

I don't want to be too overly optimistic here, but things have been going so well in Iraq recently that I expect some uber-patriot from the Democratic party to call for a full and immediate surrender any day now. I mean, holy crap, we could actually win this war, and that would just be devastating for our gung-ho, red-blooded, totally non-treasonous, yankee doodle Democrats.

And that would be a darned shame, wouldn't it ?

I mean, the Dems are SO committed to the position that the Iraq war cannot be won, that it would probably take like a whole week for them to come up with a new cover story, costing them otherwise valuable Bush-bashing time. Could John Kerry (D-VC) be 'for the war before he was against the war before he was for the war' ? Of course he COULD, he's a politician after all, but I think he'd need some serious historical reinvention assistance from the NY Times and the rest of the mind-meld media. Can you picture Nancy Pelosi (D-Syr) with her plastic rictus of a smile painted on as she welcomes our victorious soldier heroes home, shakes their hands, and says 'we knew you could do it !' ??? My god, what a train wreck that would be. Pelosi's head could actually explode right on the spot, I'm serious. There has to be SOME physical tolerance limit for BS, even for a liberal pol from San Fran.

So, in order to save our very patriotic and earnest friends across the aisle from a world of embarassment, there is only one solution: OUR SOLDIERS HAVE TO STOP TRYING TO WIN THIS WAR, STAT. That's a direct order from Congress.

It's the only politically correct option the Democrats have left.

I bow in worship at your mastery of the "tongue-in-cheek, semi-sarcastic, covertly-insulting" style of commentary. It's an ability that I admire, while at the same time envy.

Do you teach any classes on it, since I have had to put myself on temporary ban on K's for being unwilling to capitulate to PC guidelines?

  • roysoldboy

Hammer, there is very little PC to be found in this little article by da King.

King you have outdone yourself with this one. You have held some of our most patriotic Congressional leaders up to the light and they are seemingly not too illuminated by it. It is a great job of showing them up for what they really are but it seemed that the longer you wrote the more irate you got thinking about them. It is very hard to write about that bunch without reacting that way.

  • Da King

Aw shucks, thanks Sunkl. I have the same string of curse words running through my head as you do when the libs start their lunacy, but I just don't put it on the page that way. If you thought I was only being semi-sarcastic in that last piece, I'll have to try harder, because I was shooting for 100% sarcasm.

  • Voice-of-Truth

    King:
Now, if only you could goad the paper that sponsors this blog to actually cover the debate – on the facts – over the success or non-success of the surge, the current prospects for the war, etc. Won't happen. The MSM will not give up, and the masses will continue to be beguiled. VoT

  • The Reverend

Dontcha just love wingnut parties? I know I find them quite entertaining.

    Let's review reality….

The "surge" was ordered for the sole purpose of giving breathing space for Iraqis to settle their differences and agree to agree. There is still no advancement of agreement by whoever the hell is operating the government in Iraq. Therefore, whenever the surge started and whatever it's done, doing or will do…..no political reconciliation, no successful surge. I don't give a damn how many Muslim bodies you stack up…..there is no military solution.

Secondly: Who are we at war with? Was their a declaration of war by the Congress? No. There was a military force resolution for the purpose of disarming Saddam and/or decapitating the regime. That's done.

And if we're at war against, you know, al-Qaeda……our military is currently located too far to the west. America's enemies, other than the neo-conservative pre-emptionists, are in Afghanistan and Pakistan. AFTER SIX YEARS.

But hey, thanks for the entertainment.

  • Da King

VoT, if only I had the power to do what you ask, but alas, I do not. The ABJ, along with 90% of the rest of the mainstream media, remains firmly in control of the left, so the facts will remain as hidden as the left can make them. Only the alternative media can bring the truth to light.

  • Da King

Rev, you better watch out, because when you say 'there is no military solution', you are agreeing with your pal George W. Bush, who said the exact same thing. Of course we all know the ultimate solution in Iraq is political and diplomatic, and that it will be made by the Iraqis, not the americans, but the surge IS making progress. It's kind of hard to make political progress when the building you are in is blowing up, so security is a prerequisite. I consider fewer deaths, fewer bombings, and Iraqis taking more control to be progress, but I guess you are a glass-half-empty sort of guy. Either that or you'd rather cut your tongue off than admit to anything going right under the Bush administration. Whatever.

And at last estimate, Al Qaeda has a presence in 60 or so countries, and they consider IRAQ to be the front in the war against the Great Satan, if you are really interested in reality.

  • larry d.

As far as Iraq war goes, it sounds like the Reverend's saying "mission accomplished." Welcome aboard, bro!

  • Da King

Larry, I'm not sure our Rev has any clue what he's saying. He's still wants to know who we're at war with, and the war is over 4 years old, so I think he might have attention deficit disorder or something.
