Rev, people who make 60K per year should pay for their own children's health insurance. The smokers shouldn't pay for it. That's what this is about. That's why the president's veto was upheld. Everyone wants the poor kids to be covered, and they were under the old S-CHIP (which the Republican congress started, btw) so you can stop with the name-calling and emotional blackmail now.

All this unappealing, some would call it hateful, conservative talk. Wow.

And consider just for a second, what it is you are talking about. You are talking about denying health coverage, in the richest country ever to reign over the earth, to CHILDREN.

While Roy, for example, enjoys the fruits of SOCIALIZED medical care for seniors while at the same time being completely capable of paying his own way, he wants to deny children the same "right". I mean....jeebus....it's hard to believe, really.

I call it being non-self-aware. That's better than selfish hatefulness...I guess.

Unending tax dollars pouring into the military industrial energy complex coffers.....from which we receive nothing.....is A-OK with movement conservatives, like you guys, but helping American children is a threat to our nation's foundation.

Christ on a cracker.....you've surely demonstrated you are on the wrong side of this issue. And your side is kind of....like...ugly.

Franko: Nothing personal....like I said, I respect your independence. Truth is though, all Americans are not and cannot be like you or me. Some folks need help. And with the waste of 1/2 trillion dollars going on in Iraq....it seems to me there just might be a spare $35 billion to help American kids.

Franko, I've read that paying for the Dems version of S-CHIP expansion requires 22 million NEW smokers to foot the bill, so when folks like Pelosi go around saying that the program is paid for, they aren't being that honest. The government is trying to stop people from smoking and at the same time, the Dems are counting on smokers for funding. That doesn't make any sense. And any way you slice it, it's a tax increase.

To continue your point, King, what happens when there aren't enough smokers to foot the bill? The number of EVIL smokers are dwindling year by year as a percentage of the population. Sooner or later (my bet is sooner), there won't be enough smokers to foot the bill for the expanded S-CHIP, then I guess the rest of us will be asked to "pay our fair share." And if we complaign, the DNC will do what it does best, lie about and demonize us.

Reverend, you make me laugh, you really do. You accuse me of not being factual, yet in the next breath you talk about the Frost's $55,000 home. As Roy pointed out, that was the price 16 years ago. The FACTS are that the Frosts own 2 properties with a combined estimated value of about $400,000. Did Keith Olbermann mention that ? The Frosts also only work part time, any explanation from Olbermann for that ? According to the Frost's neighbors, Mr Frost just can't get it together to work at his business very much, even though he makes good money at it when he does work. Of course, why work hard when the Democrats will just take money from other taxpayers to pay your bills if you run short ?

The proposed Democratic expansion of S-CHIP is all about bringing government dependency up into the middle class. That isn't 'phantom socialism', that is real socialism. The Dems could have just reauthorized S-CHIP as it was, and Bush would have signed it, but no, they couldn't do that, not when they could create a political issue to exploit.

The S-CHIP expansion question at hand is: why should smokers (most of whom are low income themselves) shoulder the tax burden to pay for health insurance for middle class families, including many adults ? The answer is: They shouldn't. It's pretty obvious.

Red, if you really believe that Frost and family are poor enough to have to have the S-CHIP insurance you have to believe that nearly everybody in the US that makes less than $75,000 should have it. Frost makes a good wage, owns a house valued at $300,000, and could have family insurance through his small business that would have taken care of his son if he had taken out some instead of hanging around in hopes that he wouldn't have to have a wad to take care of an emergency like this one. His kid is the poster boy for the people in the Congress who wanted to get this thing going good to use as a purely political campaign piece. Poor soul, Red. Someday you will understand and I hope it isn't because you finally see through some of the BS the left is holding out as a carrot to people. In other words, I hope they don't get to where they can force it on us which would mean that I hope they don't win control of anything in 2008 other than the outhouse.

Franko I have to admire you and your desire to support your familty. You have to know that I have called Red, Red, for over two years since I figured out that he is just a bit more left handed than just a bit of socialism. Along with that he has hated Bush since the Supreme Court awarded 2000 to Bush instead of Algore. Of course, we all know that the NY Times and some other papers studied the votes in question in Florida and found that Bush did, in fact, win the election. Red has never been able to admit this because of his socialistioc views and his hatred of Bush.

Yes sir, Red is an atheist, who likes to talk about Christianity and is also so far left leaning that he is very near a communist. He will be at me now for holding his far left socialist mind out for others to see. Hide and watch.

Rev:

We have the right to Life, Lliberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. That means we are free make our own way, but that we shouldn't expect others to make it for us. That's it. As for being one serious illness from bankruptcy, that B.S. The HSA that I have is very affordable, and the $5,500 deductible is per family, per year, and the coverage is 100% after that -- hospital, meds, out patient, the whole shooting match -- with a $3,000,000 cap per person. Now I'm not saying that shelling out $5,500 extra each year on health expenses wouldn't put a dent in my bank account, but neither would it bankrupt me. It's about taking responsibility yourself and not expecting the nanny government to wipe your nose (among other things) from the cradle to the grave. And as for S-CHIP, the program as it stands will cover the children of the poor. The S-CHIP expansion would just allow people like myself, who can afford their own health care, to leach off of the government. And that isn't right, nor is it "a" right

Franko: I respect and salute your independence.

You realize, of course, that each of our families are just one bad sickness away from bankruptcy, right? Do you think that's a good thing?

If health care is not a right, what would be? You say it's not food or shelter.....are there any "rights" at all? Should Americans expect anything at all from their government tax dollars other than militarism? If there is anything we should expect other than militarism....what would that be?

For the factually impaired.....

Buying a $55,000 house 16 years ago that's worth $300,000 today means what.....exactly? Does that mean the Frost's should have just borrowed the money for health insurance for their kids from the equity(if there is any)in their home? Is that what it means? And then do what? Default because they can't keep up with the minimums? Bankruptcy for all, huh?

And that's not the point of it all anyway. I hope that those 20%'ers who don't want the S-CHIP program made available to families like the Frost's are extremely proud of there caring, compassionate position. Falls a tad short of being called Christian but hey, it is what it is.

Roy, who enjoys socialized Medicare for all seniors, is so consistent in his view of the application of socialized health care. He likes it for himself but doesn't want the truly needy, like the Frost children, to also be able to enjoy what he has.

Real persuasive Roy.

And about Maher.....the only part of his show that is funny, really, is "New Rules". The rest of the show is not all that good, but I'm extremely critical....in case you hadn't noticed.

King, you hit the nail right on the head. It's time Americans realized that health care is not a right. If it is, as the liberals arguing, I'd say that having a roof over your head and food on your table is an even more pressing day-to-day need for the majority of Amercians. Why not free food and housing for everyone! No thanks, that was tried in the USSR and didn't work out too well. I know, I'm just a conservative meanie! But you see, I pay for my family's health care. We have a health savings account with a $5,500 deductible. We drive a 10 year old and a 5 year old vehicle respectively, and we don't live in a $300,000 house. Yeah, it would be nice if it were free, but there's no free lunch. Entitlements cost LOTS of money -- money we don't have to spend. It's time people paid their own way.

We drive a 10 year old and a 5 year old vehicle respectively, and we don't live in a $300,000 house. Yeah, it would be nice if it were free, but there's no free lunch. Entitlements cost LOTS of money — money we don't have to spend. It's time people paid their own way.

Maher is a despicable pig who has the luck of working for a far-left operated HBO, thus doesn't have to worry about becoming the next Al Franken. The more outrageous, the better for HBO, as long as he's blasting away at conservative ideals and leaders.

You're right about this show NOT being the place for serious discusion of ideas. It's a sham.

King, you see just what we all see in the Maher travesty that is run time after time each week. Once you have seen one of them you have seen all of them, just new people doing the same thing from week to week. Anybody, like Red, who never watches it must have something else to do all the time and surely Red could pick up something more liberal from Free Speech TV.

Red, I think it has been reported that Frost paid $55,000 for the home 16 or so years ago and it is now valued at over $300,000. I love the way you choose the smaller of those two figures to get your point across. That is typical Red, to me.

Great job Mr. King. Keep them coming.

You, King, are not much different from Michelle Malkin. Neither of you pay any attention to facts.
The Frost's had an IRS return of $45K last year, their house cost $55,000, they send their children to private school on scholarships and grants because they can't afford it otherwise.

Both of the Frost children were injured badly in an auto accident. The girl is permanently brain damaged. Olbermann had the hospital photos on Countdown last night.

The Frosts are exactly the type of family that 80% of America want to see helped. Just because you and Michelle are so ideological in your fight to stop the phantom socialists doesn't mean you are in the majority or correct in your views.

I don't watch Bill Maher's show and everyone knows how...umm...liberal, I am.

The Frost story is an embarassment to the Republicans....as it should be. Shame on them.
