Preseason: Cavs vs. Charlotte Bobcats

October 6, 2009

We’ll get back to the regular game blog format when the regular season rolls around.
In the meantime, here are a couple of highlgiths from the Cavs-Bobcats game at Quicken Loans Arena Tuesday night.
Shaquille O’Neal and LeBron James look very comfortable out on the floor together.  The entire starting lineup looked comfortable, despite the fact that [...]

Gameblog: Cavs at New Jersey Nets

March 22, 2009

Post mortem:  Cavs 96, Nets 88
Observations:

You can’t really quibble with a win and for most of the game the Cavs looked impressive, although they probably should have salted this one away.  But the Nets, winners of two in a row coming in, are fighting for that final statement of mediocrity in the East, the eight [...]

Gameblog: Cavs vs. Portland Trail Blazers

March 19, 2009

Post mortem:  Cavs 97, Trail Blazers 92
Observations:

The Cavaliers showed some semblance of an inside offensive game in the second half, actually getting Zydrunas Ilgauskas established in the paint.  Ilgauskas took advantage of the opportunity scoring 12 points in the third quarter and adding another five between the fourth quarter and the first overtime.
The team played [...]

Gameblog: Cavs vs. Detroit Pistons

February 22, 2009

Post mortem:
Someone on press row had to wake me when this one was over because the Cavs 99-78 win over the Pistons tonight was a snoozefest from the first quarter on.
The most excitement came toward the end of the game when fans wondered whether the team’s deep bench players would score the magical 100 [...]

Gameblog: Cavs vs. Lakers

February 8, 2009

Life must be easy for Lamar Odom:  put on a cape in Cleveland and turn into Superman.  The Lakers forward certainly looked like that for much of the game against the Cavaliers, scoring 28 points and grabbing 17 rebounds.
Odom created matchup problems that were exacerbated by the absence of Sasha Pavlovic, who left the game [...]

James, Williams Extinguish the Blazers

January 22, 2009

PORTLAND, Ore. – Normally after a loss the Cavaliers come back and take their frustrations out on the next team they face.
Although it’s certainly more difficult to do on the road, the Cavaliers continued the trend beating the Portland Trail Blazers 104-98 behind the scoring of LeBron James and (34 points) point guard Mo Williams [...]

Gameblog: Cavs vs. New Orleans Hornets

January 16, 2009

Post -mortem:  Cavs 92, Hornets 78.
The Cavaliers won this game for two reason – defense and coaching.
Defensively, they held Hornets to 37 percent shooting on the night, forced 13 turnovers and had six steals.  It’s the kind of effort that’s expected and has become the norm.  ‘Nuff said.
But in all of the excitement surrounding the team’s [...]
