The Traveling Music Post: The Show Tunes Version

Once again folks, I’m off into the great blue yonder.  Traveling to Houston then home this time, but here are some of my favorite show tunes for your pleasure:

A recent discovery after seeing Wicked at Playhouse Square:

 

Idina Menzel sang the Wicked Witch of the West’s part of the duet Defying Gravity from Wicked, here she’s part of the ensemble cast from RENT:

Something old school from West Side Story. You can never forget the classics. And yes, I know Natalie Wood didn’t do her singing in the film. Doesn’t change the fact that she could act and that she was gorgeous (completely sexist remark, I know):

Phantom of the Opera has been on Broadway for more than two decades. Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford are still difficult to match:

In closing, a little symmetry. From The Wiz based on the Broadway play (therefore it qualifies) and starring Diana Ross, Michael Jackson and Richard Pryor:
