Gameblog: Cavs vs. Pistons

March 31, 2009

Post mortem:  Cavs 79, Pistons 73
Observations:

For about a minute there even I thought this would turn out to be another Dallas Mavericks affair.  I should have remembered this is a Cavs-Pistons game.  These two teams love rolling around in the mud against one another.  Always have, always will.  That’s what happened tonight and if anything [...]

March 30, 2009

Cavs’ center Zydrunas Ilgauskas  is willing to make a trade.
A Plain Dealer report revealed this morning that the ball that Z used to enter the Cavs’ 10,000 point club walked out of The Quicken Loans Arena after the Atlanta Hawks game.  The ball was tossed in the crowd and the individual who caught it, never [...]

Gameblog: Cavs vs. Timberwolves

March 27, 2009

Post-mortem:  Cavs 107, Timberwolves 85
Two things won this for the Cavaliers – crashing the boards and shooting:

The Cavaliers outrebounded the Twolves 47-26, crashing the boards all night and with relative ease.  They beat them in second chance points 16-7 .  James led the way with 12, but Anderson Varejao proved extremely effective on the glass [...]

March 25, 2009

Post-mortem: Cavs 98, Nets 87

The record’s behind them, this is officially the best team in Cavs hisotry as they won their 58th.  I don’t even think they believe it’s enough and they shouldn’t because there’s still plenty to work on:
Offensively, the Cavs, after opening up with tremendous momentum, looked sloppy for the rest of the [...]

Gameblog: Cavs at New Jersey Nets

March 22, 2009

Post mortem:  Cavs 96, Nets 88
Observations:

You can’t really quibble with a win and for most of the game the Cavs looked impressive, although they probably should have salted this one away.  But the Nets, winners of two in a row coming in, are fighting for that final statement of mediocrity in the East, the eight [...]

Gameblog: Cavs vs. Portland Trail Blazers

March 19, 2009

Post mortem:  Cavs 97, Trail Blazers 92
Observations:

The Cavaliers showed some semblance of an inside offensive game in the second half, actually getting Zydrunas Ilgauskas established in the paint.  Ilgauskas took advantage of the opportunity scoring 12 points in the third quarter and adding another five between the fourth quarter and the first overtime.
The team played [...]

Cavs: Jackson Returns; Brown Shuffles Rotation

March 19, 2009

Wally Szczerbiak’s left knee strain that will keep him out for much of the rest of the regular season will require Mike Brown to shift his rotation once again.  In Szczerbiak the team lost some flexibility.
Brown said after Thursday’s morning shootaround that Sasha Pavlovic, because of his size, will see his minutes increase.  Some may [...]

Add Wally Szczerbiak to this list of Cavaliers wounded.  The guard-foward left the game against the Orlando Magic with 3:33 left in the third with a left knee sprain.
