It would be easy to explain what happened to the Cavaliers in Indianapolis, but sometimes it’s best to hear it with your own ears. In the audio, Brown, LeBron James and Mo Williams are talking about referee Joe Crawford’s controversial call: brown-james-williams2
Game: Cavs vs. Indiana Pacers
Broadcast: TV: FSOhio
WAKR (1590 AM); WTAM (1100 AM), WHBC (1480 AM)
Starters: Cavs: LeBron James (F); Ben Wallace (F); Zydrunas Ilguaskas (C); Wally Szczerbiak (G); Mo Williams (G). Pacers: Danny Granger (F); Troy Murphy (F); Roy Hibbert (C); Jarrett Jack (G); T.J. Ford (G).
Injured and inactive: Cavs: Eric Snow, Tarence Kinsey, Delonte West. Pacers: Mike Dunleavy, Jeff Foster, Jamaal Tinsley.
Officials: Joe Crawford, Bernie Adams and Eric Dalen
Streaking: Cavs have lost one, as have the Pacers.
Two things to look for:
- LeBron James on Danny Granger – James had a so-so game against the Los Angeles Lakers and will be looking to ”redeem” himself.
- The Cavs interior defense took a beating against the Lakers. It needs to be shored up and fast. Lamar Odom loked like he was being escorted ot the hoop on many occasions Sunday.
Quotable:
From the coach’s office:
Mike Brown on Mo Williams making the All-Star Game:
“It was great to be able to take that news to Mo Williams. That was definitely one of the highlights of my time here.”
From the locker room:
Mo Williams on making the All-Star Game:
It kind of worked out as a great situation. Obviously LeBron has been there every year supporting the organization. It says a lot when you have two players and the whole entire coaching staff. We’re battling injuries and still winning basketball game so that says a lot about the coaching staff and the players on this team.

These recent losses are the best thing that could possibly happen right before the trade deadline. Better now than after the deadline. If Ferry still can’t see and still won’t acknowledge that Ilgauskas is a non-entity in the paint on both ends of the floor, then Ferry’s got issues. And yet another 0 assist game from this guy.
Ferry really needs to do something if they expect to beat teams like Boston, Orlando, Los Angeles and San Antonio in a series without needing everything to flow perfectly every game. James can’t do it all every playoff game. Wallace is washed-up, they can’t risk him playing like crap every other playoff game. And when Gibson doesn’t make his shots, that kid is completely worthless on both ends of the floor.
I say Shaquille O’Neal or bust. Rest him every other game during the regular season, who cares. And what is Danny Fortson doing these days? If he’s even in halfway decent shape, I’d sign that beastly maniac in a heartbeat.
Good extra, George, that audio thing. Windhorst never bothered.
I love that mantra of “We’re a no excuses team,” until Ferry and Brown actually need an excuse for their team. In this instance, lame excuse. Don’t you agree, George?
Indiana had three starters/sometimes starters on their bench, you don’t need an excuse. Just tell the reporters that they should have never been in that position in the first place, you have a much better team than what appeared out there, and then move on to the next game. I watched the game on the Indiana feed, it sure looked like the identical types of plays on both ends of the floor to me. Legit fouls both ways.
Get your players more prepared to play the next time, Brown. Do what most women do when they’re perturbed about something, and go shopping. For example, those blue glasses you wore the other day have just gotta go.
And George, you neglected to note that Marquis Daniels was another guy who was also hurt and out. A lousy long-range shooter, but a good mid-range shooter, a good defender and can play the point if it’s absolutely necessary. I’d trade two Pavlovics for one Daniels.
i cant believe im agreeing with multiple posts from ALan!
the reason they lost that game was because they played like they have the past few years – all lbj and little else and basically shot like poop from long distance. the game should not have come down to that.
i disagree a little on the fouls though with alan. the call on granger WAS technically a foul, but typically is not called. granger was next to lebron (not in position) and bumped lebron on the way up. however i dont think it should have been called. the foul call on lebron was NOT a foul since lebron was in position and went straight up. in reality, ticky tack on both ends and neither should have been called.
