Here’s what Peter Vecsey of the NY Post has to say about Kidd. I still say stay away.

I believe bad offers are the best the Nets are going to get. I believe they’re better off without their ingrate point guard. He’s a lousy leader. He’s an offensive liability. He has contaminated the team. He’s making costly mistakes at the end of games. And he’s owed $21.3M next season.

“People are blinded by his triple doubles,” said a respected member of the Nets franchise. “They fail to see he has become a high-priced role player.”

In other words, the Nets should take what they can get while they can get it, as long as they don’t have to take back compost contracts. Then they should fumigate their arena.

How about Sam Cassell? Supposedly the Clippers want to deal him. Don’t we have some expiring contracts to give?

how about calling orlando? i don’t know anything ’bouth their contracts, but nelson isn’t playing the minutes he should, and redick isn’t happy either. they’re both young, and i guess larry hughes should make a good fit in orlando as well. but in this case we’re probably giving way to little, if this makes any sense, complete my thinking here

Hey LeBron you’re not the GM. Kidd is making 20 million anyways so how the hell could we afford him? Who would the Nets take? Hughes? Z? Gooden? Then who would we have left besides bench players. Sorry Cav fans this isn’t happening. Danny Ferry “working on trades” means Ferry can’t get anyone. On a stupid note some clown on ESPN today said LeBron is going to ruin the chemistry on this team by trying to get Kidd. Yeah LeBron James who carried the team for 5 years now will ruin the chemistry even though he makes everyone better.

Delonte West is trash…

The pressure is on Ferry. He knows that if he were to trade for Kidd that would pretty much seal LeBron’s next extension, but Ferry clearly doesn’t have the trade assets because of the money makes.

We’ll probably hear that Ferry put in a lot of time trying to get it done but that in the end he couldn’t get a third team involved.

This is not a smart move. Kidd is preposterously overpaid and is 34 years old. He is one of the reasons the Nets suck this year. And why on earth do we need another guard who isn’t even close to shooting 40% from the field? Other posters are correct that trading Gooden now with Varajeo hurt is not smart. Give me Andre Miller any day. He helps fill this team’s needs and could probably be had for expiring contracts. Hell, even Jamal Tinsley would help.

Apparently, there are more than one Mike that comment here. I am not a regular.

Udrih’s salary when he was traded to Minnesota from 1.7M. Minnesota waived him. In order for the Cavaliers to put in a waiver claim on Udrih they would have to have 1.7M in cap room to take on the salary. The Cavaliers didn’t.

Udrih cleared waivers and while Minnesota was obligated to pay him his 1.7M he was free to sign with any team. Sacramento signed him to a minimum salary contract for one year.

That is what happened.
