The Cavs have the right to deny anyone press credentials, and the players, coaches, and front office can ignore anyone they want. If a beat writer does nothing but trash the team he's covering, the team will shut up around that writer and no longer give him/her any quotes, and without being able to get anything out of the team, how long is the newspaper going to keep him/her on the beat? That's what I meant by it being their job to be a homer. Obviously some criticism goes with the job, but BW is far from the biggest homer writer in Cleveland, let alone in the NBA.
