Personally, I like Boykins as a backup, change-of-pace PG who could score and get up-tempo baskets against the opponents 2nd unit. He is a bit of a ball-hog though, somewhat of a defensive liability against bigger PGs and I'm just not convinced he could be the starting PG on a championship team. I'd prefer someone who was a little more pass-first in their approach. But, if the Cavs got Boykins, I think he could contribute.

If I were Ferry, I'd be trying to put together trade packages for guys like Luke Ridnour, Rafer Alston, Delonte West, Speedy Claxton, Jose Calderon, maybe even Sam Cassell.

James...you make a good argument against picking up Brevin...I'll give you and Brian the last word on that (My bad, Brian!)...I was wondering what you thought about getting Earl Boykins (who the Cavs don't seem to be interested in either, though I heard a statistic today that he's increased his scoring avg every year for the past five years)...if not him then who should we pick up (in your opinion)?

First off, my main take was that to compare Knight and Kidd in the way that the poster did was crazy.

Secondly, to answer your point Tony -- Knight scored 17 against the Cavs last Nov because they LEFT him wide open all game. Yes - he hit some shots that night, but the defense didn't respect him at all, because the book on Knight says he ain't hitting that shot consistently. Eric Snow scored 18 points on 7 for 14 shooting in one game against the Clippers last year too. Was that indicative of what we can expect from Snow on a nightly basis? Uh no.

And one big reason Knight averaged twice as many points as Snow is because he ATTEMPTED twice as many shots (8.1 to 4.0). That was on a horrible Charlotte team without the other, better offensive options that the Cavs have (LeBron, Z, Gooden, Boobie, Hughes, etc.). If Knight were playing on the Cavs, no way he's taking 8 shots a game. He would be giving you exactly the same thing Snow gives you. So it's ridiculous to just "add" his extra 5 points per game to their total. Those are shots that someone else ain't taking.

They both are horrible jump shooters (41.9% and 41.7% FG) from any distance and they both would not / do not draw double teams away from LeBron. That's my point (which Windhorst said as well). And that's why the Cavs have little interest in him.

James, Brevin will hit the wide open jumper...you do have to put a guy on him...I remember he killed the Cavs by his shooting in a game this year...he AVERAGED over 10 pts per game...Eric Snow averaged about 5 per game...so you're telling me that to add 5 pts per game to the Cavs' final point total (thnk playoffs) doesn't mean much? It probably means at LEAST 2 victories in the finals vs. the hole in the donut that we wound up with...
