A few links for your digestion

Posted November 9th, 2005 by Brian Windhorst

Some stuff to keep you busy:

  • Damon Jones is blacking out the media, those of us in Cleveland have chosen not to write about it but a columnist in Toronto did.
  • Larry Hughes isn’t happy with his play.  I don’t think he’s been gangbusters, but I think he’s selling himself sort so far.  He’s is so multi-talented and fun to watch, even though what he does may no always been noticeable to the average fan.  Watch how he plays Ray Allen tonight on defense, I assume they’ll be matched up.
  • Drew Gooden took out some extra insurance.  I think it probably cost him six figures, but it is a smart thing to do.
  • Are you a numbers nut? Like basketball’s version of "Moneyball?"  If you are, you’d realize the Cavs most valuable player so far has actually been Donyell Marshall. This site has the proof.
  • Carlos Boozer.  Remember him?  They barely do even in Utah right now.
  • The Sonics hit Cleveland in trouble

Does Carlos Boozer believe in karma?

Forget he skips to Utah. Is Boozer the missing puzzle piece to last year?

Is the Boozer ordeal a good one, since it helped clear cap room for THIS year?

Lots of questions…too many alternative worlds to deal with…..

Brian, you are so good you deserve your own theme song:

Do you have rocks in your head? When you shake your head no, does it rattle?

    Re: Brian’s theme song….

Just what we need - that song pouring over the Q’s speaker when Windhorst walks down the tunnel from the media dinner room and into his catbird seat along press row….Ronnie Duncan not included. Classic.

  5. Chris Bores Says:

It sure looks like loosing Boozer is going to be the downfall of the Cavs, just like so many predicted.

  6. Bob Says:

Too bad Andre Knott isn’t running the audio during the Cavs games anyomre. We probably could have gotten him to play it pre-game or something…

  7. Alan Tucker Says:

Heath, how in the world did the Boozer-Gund-Paxson clownfest help clear cap room for this year? Major revisionist history. Besides, notwithstanding all the painful boo-boos Boozer claims to have been suffering since he went to live above sea-level, I’d still rather see him on the team than Gooden…and half of the current team, for that matter. Both for the short-term and the long-term. Boozer’s best days are ahead of him. Can’t say the same for any of the 30-somethings now occupying the roster. And with all the draft picks Paxson pawned for a song, this team doesn’t have much of a future upside. They’re stuck with what they’ve got for a few years. An above-average team with one great player and no first-round picks. Basically, the Timberwolves during the Garnett era.

Hey, I wonder if Pavlovic will be able to attract a first-round pick when superstar Ira Newble makes his triumphant return to the court.

  8. Heath Says:

Alan - you figure that the money the Cavs DIDN’T spend on Boozer was a relief - and the trade to bring Gooden over from the Magic got Tony Battie off the books as well.

I do agree - not having some 1st rounders upcoming hurts - but it’s not Stepian-esque.

50 wins would be really cool this year. 45’s probably going to give them an 7-8 seed.
