As noted above, this is Nate Ulrich from Ohio.com and the Akron Beacon Journal. I list Ohio.com first because this blog will soon become my life, even more so than the print product.

You might have noticed I've been posting here for the past two weeks. Well, that's because I joined (or rejoined — see below) the Akron Beacon Journal's staff on May 24. Please excuse me for failing to introduce myself until now, but I wanted to build some momentum first.

Anyway, I have a lot planned for this blog, and I can't wait to get things running on all cylinders. The week before the Browns open training camp on a to-be-determined date in late July or early August, I'll "re-launch" this blog. When I say "re-launch," I mean I'll reveal all the plans for the blog and a tentative schedule of the features you can expect to see consistently. Above all, the new version of this blog will be interactive. I'll answer your questions, ask you questions and ask Browns players questions on your behalf.

Until then, I'll still try to post regularly, especially next week during mandatory mini-camp (June 10-12). But here's my main point: There's more to come and it's going to be fun, so please bear with me in the meantime.

In hopes of sampling the type of interaction to come, I want to address a question I read in the comments of a previous post about my observations from Thursday's Browns organized team activities. A reader wanted to know more about Browns tight end Evan Moore.

In my observations, I wrote: "After struggling to catch anything in last week's OTAs open to media, tight end Evan Moore seemingly caught everything this week."

And now to follow up, I'll offer this: Moore looked like two different players in the two practices I saw. The first time, he was uncharacteristically awful. The second time, which was Thursday, he looked unstoppable. He even caught a touchdown pass from quarterback Jake Delhomme while he was closely covered in a goal-line drill. Considering his game-day performances late last season with the Browns, I'd expect to see a lot more good than bad from Moore. He's a 6-foot-6, 247-pound third-year pro out of Stanford who played in the final five games of the 2009 season after being elevated from the Browns' practice squad. In those five games, he became something the Browns often lacked — a reliable target. He caught 12 passes for 158 yards and seemingly has a good shot at contributing this season. Other than veteran Ben Watson, Moore has been the most impressive tight end I've watched in Berea. Robert Royal and Alex Smith are others of note, though Moore appears to have an edge.

Do you have a question for Evan Moore?: I'll be attending another session of OTAs Monday. If you have a question for Moore or if want to talk about anything else, e-mail it to me, and I'll try to ask him on a video that I'll post on this blog. If I'm not able to do it Monday, I'll try later in the week. Send your name (no nicknames, please), city of residence and question to nulrich@thebeaconjournal.com. I'll only use the best question or two (the NFL limits the length of videos to 90 seconds per day for media outlets). I hope to hear from you.

More about me (for those who wonder, "Who the heck is this guy?")

I was born and raised in Akron.

I went to Kent State University.

As I hinted in the second paragraph, I previously worked for the Akron Beacon Journal for four years. During the past couple of years, I worked in Northwest Indiana and the Chicagoland area, where I covered high school, college and professional sports.

Cincinnati 7, Cleveland 6

First down — Rudi Johnson finishes an easy opening drive with a 13-yard touchdown reception for Cincinnati. That's the first touchdown reception of his career. The Browns continue to set marks in the wrong way.
Second down — First Browns series is three-and-out, with two Derek Anderson throws behind Braylon Edwards. The next possession starts with good field position and a first down, but Braylon Edwards drops a pass and Anderson loses the ball, then overthrows an open Joe Jurevicius in the end zone. The Browns get a field goal, but field goals are not enough points against this Bengals offense.
Third down — Anderson drops the ball or has it knocked out more than any quarterback in recent memory. It happened several times during training camp. He must have the smallest hands in the league.
Fourth — The Browns come up with another field goal and trail by one, which is encouraging. Still, getting field goals against the Bengals just doesn't seem like enough.
