Sports Illustrated's 2010 NFL preview issue will be released to the public Wednesday. Here's a sneak peek for Browns fans:
SI's Peter King predicts the Browns will go 5-11 and finish last in the AFC North.
And in Damon Hack's preview of the Browns, he gives some insight into Browns President Mike Holmgren's decision to retain coach Eric Mangini at the end of last season.
"I made a promise to myself to give him a chance and not really listen to anybody else," Holmgren told Hack. "It doesn't take long to know he's very bright, he cares, he's a hardworking guy. I just had to get him to smile a little more."
hi there hows it going
I am a solid Browns fan, but look at their schedule. They will most likely start out 2-0( versus Tampa Bay & KC)yay!! but look at the next 7 games-they play, Ravens, Bengals, Falcons, Steelers, Saints, Patriots, & Jets. If they are better than 2-7, it will be a success. Next 4 are iffy(Jags, Panthers, Fins, Bills)(2-2) and last 3 are Bengals, Ravens and Steelers(0-3). So 5-11 could be optimistic. What a schedule. I feel for Mangini. Anything better than 5-11 is an absolute success and Homlgren should keep Mangini, unless he can get Tony Dungy.
I don't see any way the Browns go 0-6 in the division. You are giving Pittsburgh (who lost Holmes and still has a crappy o-line) and Cincy way too much credit. that defense of Cincy played over their heads. Worst case I see 1 win against them. I'm predicting 2. I think 5 or 6 wins is very, very reasonable.
Though I do think you're underrating KC. I hope the Browns don't. If Cassell can bounce back, they could make some noise in a weak NFC West.
I think 7-8 wins is also doable (2 in the divsion, KC, TB, Jags, Panthers, Bills, and maybe an upset of one of the big boys). Not betting on it, but if I told you in 2007 the Browns would win 10 games, you'd have said I needed mental help lol
I don't see Tony Dungy and Holmgren working together…..Dungy would want way more power over a club to come back.
