Browns waive rookie defensive lineman Kwaku Danso

The Browns waived rookie defensive lineman Kwaku Danso, the team announced Tuesday. Danso, 6-foot-5, 336 pounds, suffered a finger injury in the second half of Saturday's preseason game against the St. Louis Rams and did not return. Danso, a 28-year-old Ghana native, signed with the Browns as an undrafted free agent in May.

I interviewed Danso late last week, and we discussed how his first NFL training camp was going and what he felt he needed to work on. Here's what he had to say:

  • "It's fun. Sometimes it's a headache, but that's how it's supposed to be. You've got to have fun with it. I'm blessed to be here, so I'm enjoying every minute, every opportunity I get out here."
  • "Before, it was overwhelming. But now it's like, OK, get into it, get into the mood 'cause you're here for a job. Everybody is here for a job and everybody is having fun at the same time. These are like your friends, your family, so you have fun with them. You have bad days, and they push you up and tell you, 'Man, you know what? Don't worry about it. Forget about the play. Go onto the next one.' It's kind of very, very helpful."
  • "I want to be able to explode faster off the ball, to be able to read blocks. (I'm) changing my stance because my stance was a little bit crooked. I wasn't too comfortable in it. Right now that's my whole goal."

One Response to Browns waive rookie defensive lineman Kwaku Danso

  1. John says:

When can players clear waivers in order to be put on the injured reserve? Not till the end of preseason?
Have Browns hinted behind the scenes that they want Haggerty and Danso on IR?
Is there a limit to the number of IR players, and does it impact on the practice squad numbers?
