Monday's trade for Seattle Seahawks quarterback Seneca Wallace was finalized Wednesday after Wallace completed his physical.
According to Cleveland.com, the Browns gave up a seventh-round pick in the 2011 draft for Wallace, which could become a sixth-rounder depending on performance. The Browns' did not disclose the draft choice.
"We are fortunate that we were able to acquire someone with Seneca’s experience at such a key position,” Browns general manager Tom Heckert said in a statement. "Watching him in person and on tape, the things that stand out are his strong arm and outstanding athleticism, and that will allow us do a lot of things with him. He played well in limited opportunities while he was with Seattle and we expect him to come in here and compete."
Wallace, 29 and a seven-year veteran, said he was excited to be reunited with his old coach Mike Holmgren, now the Browns president. The two spent six years together in Seattle.
"I want to thank the Seattle Seahawks organization for a tremendous seven seasons," Wallace said. "They gave me my start in the NFL and I will always be grateful for that. I’m looking forward to this new opportunity with the Cleveland Browns and I am excited to be back with Coach Holmgren. With him here, as well as many of the other people they have in place, I believe this franchise is headed in the right direction.
"I had a chance to meet with Coach (Eric) Mangini and (offensive coordinator Brian) Daboll today for a little bit and they both seem like really great guys. I am eager to get to work with the Browns and look forward to meeting my new teammates."
