Yahoo Sports: Edwards will be traded to Giants before draft

Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports is reporting, based on two sources, in an effort to land Braylon Edwards the Giants will improve what they're offering the Browns.

The Browns reportedly asked for New York's second- and fifth-round picks and young wide receiver Steve Smith. The Giants countered with two picks and either Domenik Hixon or Mario Manningham.

“The Giants are going to have to up the offer a bit, but [the Browns] are willing to move him,” one of Cole's sources said.

The Giants released troubled wide receiver Plaxico Burress on April 3.

  1. Trading Edwards is not a smart move in building a successful franchise.

Trading Edwards is good for building a successfull franchise. His me first attitude, dropped passes, and future contract demands will haunt the team he plays for. Getting a 2nd and a 5th pick this year plus Steve Smith will help get some decent core players into the fold. The Browns need as many high draft picks as they can get this year plus another high profile trade (whether it's Anderson or Quinn) to build. I don't know what else they can do. I would hate to go "status quo" again because that would keep us down in the dumps for another year or two. Go for it. Make things happen. Take some calculated risks. Anything is better than the last three years.
