Browns add linebacker, drop running back

The Browns announced today the signing of linebacker Bo Ruud. He was cut earlier in the week by New England. The Patriots selected Ruud 197th overall in the 2008 NFL Draft, but he spent his entire rookie season on injured reserve.

Drew Bennett, an eight-year veteran receiver, will work out for the Browns Wednesday, according to a source.

At 5-11, 194 pounds, Carey is a relatively unknown small-college athlete who played both safety and corner as a senior while also playing on various special teams.
