Pass the rock to Chud and Romeo

by Dan on December 1, 2008

in Cleveland Browns, Josh Cribbs, Romeo Crennel

On the prospects of Joshua Cribbs seeing time at quarterback, here is what Derek Anderson had to say:

"We're not putting Josh in. You guys [must be] on crack, smoking crack. [Just] because we're playing bad doesn't mean we're going to put a receiver at quarterback."

Well, that was certainly an odd thing to say. First, Cribbs maybe shouldn't be considered a receiver at all. He only has two catches this year. He's just a football player.

Second, those crackhead reporters should pass the rock to Rob Chudzinski and Romeo Crennel then. What else do the Browns have to lose? More games? That's going to happen anyway. A reputation? That's gone already.

Maybe with Cribbs at quarterback, the fans have something to have fun with. Or the team could find a gadget play to use next year with Cribbs at quarterback. Because, let's face it, when Cribbs has been lining up at quarterback in Wildcat formations, it hasn't really worked.

Anderson is just afraid that yet ANOTHER quarterback on the team will step onto the field and make him look average, at best.

Exactly what do the Browns have to LOSE by playing Cribbs at the position for awhile? It's not like we're going anywhere with Dorsey. D.A., ha. You tell ME who's smokin' crack.

funny how Anderson attacks the substance that lead to his big time contract after one average year.

I agree with Anderson on this one. Let's see – yeah, it makes sense to put in a running QB from Kent State who has made it in the NFL by NOT playing QB and who hasn't played QB since he was in college over a QB who was 38-2 at Univ of Miami Hurricanes who won a National Championship and lost another one in OT who also has started 10 games in the NFL.

Maybe Dorsey doesn't have the physical tools of Anderson or Quinn, but he was a winner in college at the highest level. Yeah, at times he didn't look so hot in preseason, but it's really hard to judge a QB's performance when he only gets to play with mostly guys who won't make the roster. His #'s were mediocre in San Fran, but the San Fran team he was on was really bad. He's still young, so let's see what he can do before we put in the kick/punt returner/receiver.

Based on Anderson's play this year pehaps he is the one on crack!!!
