Savage (supposedly) gives fan written middle finger

by Dan on November 20, 2008

in Cleveland Browns, Phil Savage

I usually try and stay from it, but I saw this yesterday on Deadspin and couldn't resist mentioning it.

Basically, a fan e-mails Savage complaining how the team doesn't play the right players, the coaches are no good, etc. You know, the usual fan complaints that tell Savage he's doing a terrible job.

Savage's (alleged) response?

Go root for Buffalo-f#@* you-

Well then. While Savage has a right to be upset about always getting crushed by people, this seems like a poor way to convey his displeasure. Yes, the team is much better than it was in previous years thanks to Savage, but he needs to let this stuff roll of his back.

Now, I'm actually taking this somewhat lightly, hence the "supposed" and "alleged" lines. Anyone can make a fake e-mail these days and pass it off as reality. If nothing else, this makes for cheap blogger fodder.

After the totally unprofessional way Savage handled the Winslow fiasco, climaxing with his 30-second appearance before the media to angrily say "Staph infection. Everyone got it? Staph."…before stomping off….I really have no problem believing this report. The guy is far too sensitive/touchy, and as Triv says, he's ill-suited for the position he's in. No tears when Phil leaves.

Without directly asking Savage's office whether this story was true, your publication of it is absolutely reprehensible. If Savage wrote it, that's a real story and worthy of comment. If he didn't, you're a rumor-monger and profoundly irresponsible.

Do your legwork. What's the story?

i would ask what is up Scott's (insert phil savage word here) but after looking at his horrible website, I have to say. I'm sorry I ever thought about attacking a blind guy. I'm not Carlos Boozer.
