Glad to have Jones back

Browns coach Romeo Crennel said strong safety Sean Jones was "frisky" in his first full practice Wednesday after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery Sept. 11. If he's able to start Sunday against the Washington Redskins, Mike Adams will go back to his role as the nickel back.

Adams, who had only 18 career starts in four years going into this season, is grateful for his five games in the lineup.

"A lot of people didn't know what I could do. It was just speculation. 'I think he's good back there' or 'I don't know if he can tackle' or 'He's small.' There were a lot of question marks I cleared up hopefully with the organization, my teammates and the fans," said Adams, a University of Delaware product who is listed as 5-foot-11, 195 pounds.

Always super-confident, Adams was willing to step back into his old slot for a player like Jones.

"I don't mind backing him up, he's a great player," Adams said. "Sean puts up Pro Bowl numbers every year. I'm happy he's back."
