Fourth quarter vs. Raiders …
Posted September 23rd, 2007 by Pat McManamon
Oakland 26, Cleveland 24 (3:33 left)
First — Easy to second-guess, but Joe Jurevicius was wide open on a third-down throw that Tim Carter dropped. Carter is a disappointment. Jurevicus catches everything. Hard to figure.
Second — Then again, it won't matter a bit if the Browns can't stop the run.
Third — What a pleasure it is watch Kamerion Wimbley, who plays hard, plays smart and does not celebrate his plays.
Fourth — A 27-yard screen pass to Lamont Jordan on third-and-23? Are you kidding me? Sets up a field goal that gives Oakland a 26-17 lead.
Fifth — Nice drive by the Browns to cut the lead to two. Braylon Edwards continues his fine start with a big catch. This game comes down to whether the Browns defense will stop the Raiders, which hasn't happened the last two drives.

Well the more I read the more I have been posting here and there. And I hear so many thigns about this Browns team and their offense. Alo of times since last year I have been rebutled when I spoke of the Defense. Nowone season and 3 games behind me, I ahve to stick to my defense issues. As many people want to bash the offense, its well known that an offense takes 2-3 years to gel. A defense can do it half in a season. I have said this form day one, I liek what Crennel is trying to do, he has an "O" coordinator I beleive in, and s proven, Browns have everything but a qaurterback on offense. I think if they had Q.B, it would not be this ugly. But the Defense is and has been the issue for the last three years. The only reason they looked better than they did because all focus was on the offense. I also beleive that you can only groom someone for so long. If Brady Quinn is a winner and type "A" personality, he will find a way to not only win……but if he gets bashed around some or has some bad days he will rise above the dust and prevail. Only the quiters and weak willed when put against a wall fail.

It looks like you've been right about the D all along, Bob.
The Browns need to get serious about finding some linemen; they've got one of the worst groups in the league. And though I like the inside linebackers, they don't seem like the right fit for the kind of defense Crennel likes to run. No size or versatility.

Bob:
Your 8:37 Bob says posting was a difficult read. Interesting and informative but you either need "spell check" or not too much of the adult bererages after a difficult loss.

That was Jon Gruden extraordinaire! Icing the kicker so he could get in the tallest guys for the block. WHO WAS THE TEAM THAT DID IT TO THEM ON THAT CLIP WKYC PLAYED?The Browns had blown opportunities as usual with Anderson being his same inconsistant self. It's like going to the used record bin and hoping that your purchase doesn't skip a beat! The defense is very weak on the run and needs to come up with the big stops and oh yeah… CUT DOWN THE STUPID D and O PENALTIES AT OPPORTUNE TIMES!! Although I must admit, even though the O played good, this is better than last year by far. But come on… Losing to the Choke-land Raiders? Shame on you Crennelephant. You should be 2-2 after the Ravens because you'll be dead last in the division if you don't clean up the sloppy play. Grantham looking to the a head coach after giving up 105 points to the opposition in 3 games? PLEASE… I can't take Rolaids that quick after a loss…

Ues I would have to Tod Grantham is either over his head or just not creative enough. i dont think the group of guys on "D" are that bad as appears. Next game you watch look at how after the snap and during play, they look lost half the time. Out of position and over running the backfield. I have to blame the "D" coordinater on this one. What is like 106 points or something in three games?…that is what 35.3 points per game?…You just cant win on that in a consistent way. No matter if you have Peyton Manning. Up to this point it is definately getting out coached, and has been that way for some time
