I know its a little late but I just read these today.

Who in their right mind thinks Charlie Frye is a prize Quarterback?? That is one of the funniest things Ive read. Prize QB at akron Prize QB at WILLIARD but hardly a good QB in the NFL. That guy sucked in cleveland guys. I was so glad to see him go. He changed his QB mindset almost every game never a consistant threat to deliver plays and/or THE DAMN BALL…….

Regarding being a mentor, I believe you should be careful who you receive instruction from and follow.

If your goal in life is to start from scratch and make one million dollars, you should seek out a mentor who has done just that.

If I were looking for a mentor quarterback, I would go seek out Steve Young, Terry Bradshaw, John Elway or even Bernie Kosar.

Helping a young athelete get the most out of his/her talent takes great skill. I beleive a mentor can teach because they have been there.

On the otherhand, most Americans take finacial advice from finacial advisors have less net worth than they do.

LeBron went to Warren Buffett for financial advice, not a guy working at a brokerage firm who a few years earlier was a college student and probably has just received his/her first credit card.

Look at the great atheletes- their mentor was a proven veteran who knew how to get the job done.

Sorry Dorsey. You may be a great back up QB, but it is wrong for the Browns to label you a mentor.

If you look closely you will see that Anderson is the better QB. Charlie is a nice local boy but does not have what it takes to be sucessful in the Browns offence. DA should be fine until Quinn takes over

Charlie is going to think he died and went to football heaven! He will be playing for a team that has a "tried and true" head coach… tried and true assistant coaches and most importantly… Charlie will have a front line to block for him and maybe not let their QB get the snot knocked out of him. I'll bet he missed his college front line horribly. They blocked for him! They didn't get shredded like the Browns did on their season opener. I truly felt sorry for Charlie Frye.

Cleveland has had some awesome QB's over the past few years but the line has been third rate at best. Now, on the other hand, if Cleveland had a third rate QB and a first rate line… they would be contenders. A prize QB like Frye or Quinn should be protected. After all, the QB is top investment for any organization! Any football program EXCEPT for Cleveland ,that is.
Cleveland owners should let it be known that the dead weight is going to be cut! What's that you say… You cannot sustain your blocks? Stinks to be you… Get the hell out! Anyhow, this only falls on deaf ears because I do not believe the owners love the game of football. They have got to be more into the social jet set, maybe. Hey… who's that? Oh, that is the owner of the Cleveland Browns. If the owners truly loved the game of football, they would put a stop to this hideous line and coaching staff and go for a winning season. Believe it or not ,I love the Cleveland Browns but I also have my limits and my limits have been met last year.

Charlie, best of luck to you and most "tried and true" Cleveland fans know it wasn't you who blew the opener. You did your best and we thank you for that. Poor Brady… All the next team is going to see is fresh meat!

I don't get it. You don't ave to be a player to be mentor. If they really wanted Dorsey to mentor, why not just make him a QB coach? Why does he have to wear a uniform. The releasing of a QB like Frye (which would be a great backup to Quinn in the future) to keep Anderson is mind boggling. Did any of you actually attend the Tampa Bay game last year. I did and it was a disaster against a team in which we were actually favored (not the Steelers blitzing defense). I dont think Anderson is the best guy to keep. Even last SUnday, he had two INT's if the first one (right to the opposing player) wasn't dropped.

Greg, I'm not high on Dorsey, but come on. What does the talent of a guy have to do with his ability to "mentor?" If both lots of professional talent and lots of actual playing time on the professional field were prerequisites for becoming an NFL assistant coach, then there wouldn't be any.

Now with that being said, Dorsey is only 26. The term "wily veteran" does not pop into my head when I think of somebody in the NFL who's 26. So in this case, I think the word "mentor" is indeed a real semantics stretch.

Frye will love it in Seattle. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the USA. He is going to play for in a proven championship system under a head coach who won the superbowl as a head coach.

Good for Frye. He will finally learn for himself if he has the right stuff.

As for Dorsey, what qualifies him to be a mentor for anyone at QB? His three starts at San Francisco? He has only been in the league a few short years himself, and unless it is one of the NFL's best kept secrets, he was never a real starter for an NFL team. So, maybe he wants to teach Quinn how to leverage a great college career into being a third string QB. I think Quinn can do that on his own.

I would rather the Browns say he is a capable third string QB and if they need him, he can plug in and do an acceptable job.

This should have been done long ago to avoid taking reps from Brady. Now Brady gets more reps as number 2, but imagine the time lost in preseason with the Ones that he could have had. What a shame that this team drafted a rookie QB with no plan.
