O.K., Sorry.  That last post did sound a little petulant.  I'm going dump a bunch of cartoons here and get up to date.

"Incoming Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., told ABC's This Week that he could back a brief increase in forces if "it's part of a program to get us out of there." - USA Today, Dec 17, 2006

“Adding more combat troops will only endanger more Americans and
stretch our military to the breaking point for no strategic gain,” Mrs.
Pelosi and Mr. Reid wrote in a letter to Mr. Bush. “We are well past
the point of more troops for Iraq,” they added, urging Mr. Bush to
begin a “phased redeployment,” or gradual withdrawal." -New York Times, Jan 5, 2007

Senate Tear Jerk

John Bolton resigned his recess appointment as U.N. Ambassador.  Senator George Voinovich was disappointed.

"Republican Sen. George Voinovich of Ohio, a member of
the Foreign Relations Committee, said today: “I am very disappointed
that John Bolton will not continue in his role as ambassador to the
United Nations. Given the fragile nature of the world situation, and
the critical task of reforming the U.N., he should have been given an
up-or-down vote on the Senate floor.
"

Voinovich even wrote a column for the Washington Post on July 20 titled Why I'll vote for John Bolton.  That was after he said he'd vote against him.

"Standing before the Senate chamber in May 2005,
Senator George Voinovich made a tearful, heartfelt plea to his
colleagues, urging them to vote against confirming John Bolton as U.S.
ambassador to the United Nations. “I came back here [to the Senate] and
ran for a second term because I'm worried about my kids and my
grandchildren,…”

Steel Tariffs meet Car Sales

Auto makers want the international trade commission to end steel tariffs.  The high price of steel hurts car sales.  The U.S. auto industry is losing jobs

This must create a dilemma for protectionists like U.S. Senate candidate, Sherrod Brown.

Lieberman Face Time

Considering Mel Gibson's attention getting commentary on Jews, why the relative silence on black face Joe Lieberman?

This is a story that got a lot of play in the blog world but not much in newspapers so I hesitated to do a cartoon about it. But why be a slave to print?

Jane Hamsher posted the Photoshop altered image of Joe Lieberman in black face on the Huffington Post.  Hamsher is a self-described "progressive blogger".  She's also a Ted Lamont campaign insider.

Maybe she works for Reuters.

Hollywood Mike DeWine

I like negative campaigns. U.S. Senator Mike DeWine didn't disappoint me.  He wanted to show that his opponent, Sherrod Brown, is weak on defense.  His campaign produced the obligatory 9/11 Smoldering Twin Trade Towers ad.  Except it didn't.  It showed a doctored photo with smoke coming out of the south tower but not the north tower.

Impossible says a U.S. News.Com investigation.  The north tower was hit first and there should be smoke coming from it.

"I can't tell you why graphics people do things," , said DeWine, blaming his staff.  Neither can I.

Sherrod Brown was understanding: "Mike DeWine has always run campaigns with … distortions," Brown told U.S. News. "And this is another example."

And this is just the beginning.
