Guest Demonstrators

When the Supreme court overturned a Texas law against sodomy  (Lawrence v Texas in 2003), Justice Kennedy cited the European Court of Human Rights .  Jeffry Toobin has written in The New Yorker about Kennedy's lawyers without borders approach. Now that undocumented workers are showing their political muscle in the U.S. the good Justice may not have to cross the border to find foreign law.

I just hope he's not boning up on Afghan Sharia law for the court's next capital punishment case.

Okay, this is the last immigration cartoon for a while.  It's about protecting the border from enemies rather than economics. Michele Malkin has a good column about why we should be "worried, very worried" about certain illegal immigrants.

Republicans are split on immigration.  Senate Republicans want a guest worker program.  House Republicans want to round up illegal aliens, like 12 million Elian Gonzalez's, and send them home. Then they want to build a wall to keep them from coming back.  The Democrat strategy is for Republican suicide.

Guest Worker

Immigration was the topic of the week.

That got me thinking  about numbers.  There are 12 million illegal workers in the country now.  Bush wants a guest worker program to legalize them.

In 2008 millions of baby boomers will start cashing in their chips. We'll get a new crop every year until 2025.  Unfortunately, boomers haven't produced enough replacement taxpayers to see them through their greedy geezer years.

The obvious answer is go outside the farm system and sign Mexican free agents.  The president should call them guest taxpayers.
