The membership of the Association of American Editorial cartoonists frets about the declining importance of editorial cartoons.  After a recent round of cartoonist sackings the AAEC organized a cartoon protest called Black Ink Monday. World-wide rioting failed to materialize

Meanwhile, the Jyllands-Posten, a  newspaper in Denmark, commissioned cartoons of Muhammad. World-wide rioting big time.

Investors Business Daily thinks "the controversy has brought to a head the long-anticipated clash of civilizations".  IBD, by the way, now employs one of those recently sacked cartoonists, Mike Ramirez, late of the L.A. Times.

Buck up, fellow AAEC members.

Pat Robertson offered a few words about Ariel Sharon's stroke on his 700 Club show last Thursday: "He was dividing God's land, and I would say, 'Woe unto any prime
minister of Israel who takes a similar course to appease the [European
Union], the United Nations or the United States of America.'"  He also said, "God says, 'This land belongs to me, and you'd better leave it alone."

In seperate comments, Iranian president President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad carried that line of reasoning a step further saying, "Hopefully, the news that the criminal of Sabra and Chatilla has joined his ancestors is final."

The Bush administration took offense at being called intelligence manipulating liars.  Vice President Cheney called the accusations, "revisionism of the most corrupt and shameless variety."  He relied on backbone positive veteran, John McCain, for credibility, "Senator John McCain put it best: 'It is a lie to say that the president lied to the American people."

Chappaquiddick waterboarding champ, Ted Kennedy, responded by saying, "In fact, the only thing dishonest and reprehensible is the way the administration distorted, misrepresented and manipulated the intelligence to justify a war America never should have fought."

Meanwhile, intelligence was being manipulated in a different way by many of the president's supporters in Kansas.

Welcome to my new blog. It is called Bokbluster. My previous archive site is still available here. To see the full size version of the Bokbluster cartoon click the thumbnail.

An added menace to the new site is my ability to include written commentary. Even more menacing, you can throw in your 2 cents by clicking the "comments" link below.  Cartoons can be searched by category from today's cartoon forward.  There are close to 2000 cartoons in the old archive.  Until the magic gnomes show up to move them, that's where they will stay.
