Great cartoon that gets to the core of Sarah Palin's qualifications to be Vice President. The insipid comments I have read on other blogs comparing her readiness for this high office compared to Barack Obama's or Joe Biden's are laughable. For two years she has governed a state which ranks 48th out of 50 in population (about 700,000 people). Before that she was the mayor of a small town (pop. ~ 9,000) for something like nine years. I live in a town about that size. The mayor used to own a drive-in restaurant and has been reelected for five consecutive terms. He makes important decisions like when to schedule the Community Day's parade. Sorry, but if the thought of that sort of "experience" potentially commanding the White House doesn't scare people then they are in serious need of a reality check. McCain's choice of Sarah Palin as his running mate was motivated by politics, plain and simple. It appeals to his conservative base and will no doubt pick up some disaffected Clinton supporters. With this selection he has shown a reckless disregard for the well being of this country, particularly should he be unable to complete his term. Let's face it he's getting up there and, as we are constantly reminded, has had a fairly tough life. Sadly, this was all about the votes. "Country First" my behind.

I'm assuming your mayor ran for governor, won, and then got an 80 percent approval rating from the constituency, Batman?

  3. Smitty Says:

Obama hasn't been mayor or governor!

All I know is that my wife and all her friends think she is great. As Clinton says, she can learn about it in the office.

  5. Jen Says:

I am a wife and NONE of my friends thought she was great after they learned that Palin opposed sex education being taught in schools, wanted Creationism theory included in science class and attempted to have certain books banned/censored from her local library.

  6. Jen Says:

I know you are wanting to jump all over my comment Smitty, but please note that I did not say she insisted books be banned. Just the thought of book banning gives me the willies.

  7. Ed Says:

You'll be seeing corrections on most of the knee-jerk attacks on her soon. The slash tactics are evidence of panic.
