In order to avoid the tired device of a couple watching television, I went with the exhausted device of 2 guys in a bar. Dean catches this in his comment below. He's right. A couple (preferably transgendered) over lattes in Starbucks would have been a much better setting for this cartoon.
Please don't take this as a criticism – it's not meant to be, only an observation. The "two guys in a bar" discussing world events is being replaced more and more by "two guys in a Starbucks"…a sign of the times, I think.
