Fueling Illusions

Sorry for the delayed cartoon posting.  All my illegal immigrant workers are taking the day off.  And no American is willing to do this kind of work.

You may have heard the price of gas is up.  Senate Republicans have offered you $100 toward your next fill-up.  I'll take 85 dollars worth and a 12 pack.

Not only is the offer goofy, it's cheap.  Remember the $50 rebate Jimmy the Cardigan offered in 1977?  According to the Economic History Services website, that $50 would have been worth $155.81 in 2004.

That's as much research as I'm willing to do.  If you need the 2006 figure, go find yourself a Mexican.

The Republicans must have figured that if Americans were dumb enough to think that a $300 tax break in return for a $28,000 share of the deficit was a good deal, then they'd more than willing to grab $100 in return for $4 a gallon gas. Not.

In the immortal words of George Bush, "There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once — shame on — shame on you. You fool me, you can't get fooled again."

I think it goes – " Fool me once, shame on you, Fool me twice, shame on me "

Yes Skibop….that is the quotation as most know it. However, mencken was quoting Bush verbatim. Gave me a good tonsil snort.
