I got this idea from an editorial in a Jordanian newspaper, Shihane, which also reprinted the Dreaded Danish cartoons. The editorial said, "Muslims of the world, be reasonable… what brings more prejudice against Islam, these caricatures or pictures of a hostage-taker slashing the throat of his victim in front of the cameras or a suicide bomber who blows himself up during a wedding ceremony in Amman?"
The editor, Jihad Momani, was fired and arrested.

I am surprised that no one has responded to this cartoon. Where are the real Muslims, and why aren't they shutting down the lunatics?
While i do agree that bombers are bringing down the muslims more than a cartoon, you shouldn't add to the fire.
I am terribly sorry, but I would like to ask for more fuel to be added to this fire.
Only tonight, in an interview with Danish Public Broadcasting TV (DR TV) General Secretary of the United Nations, Kofi Annan, demonstrated that he is one of the many people who do not understand that criticism of religion and religious people must be protected through freedom of speech. If people hadn't criticized religious world views, we would not have had genetics, astronomy, physics, philosophy etc, because all of these contain ideas that are bound to offend religious people. Nietzsche said "God is dead". Luther criticized the catholic church. Even Muhammed himself was in opposition to the religions that preceded his, though he cleverly claimed ownership of both the jewish prophets and Jesus, as being earlier prophets of *his* religion.
Religion offends me, and the lack of guts shown by people and media all over the socalled free world offends me even more. As a balanced, educated, social-liberal and tolerant guy, I am appaled to find myself among right-wing extremists, and even some christian conservative extremists. Apparantly all the socalled tolerant people are so tolerant they will rather hate themselves than stand up for freedoms against those who have made hatred into a religion.
Defend the right to hate religion!!!!

At least defend the right to talk about it! Fire sheds light. I say add the fuel. It seems to reveal hypocracy and true intent. There is no such thing as free speech with areas of taboo.

Welcome to the big tent.
I keep finding the one on the left gets more restrictive all the time. If you doubt me take a look at the comments at Daily Kos. Most Demecrats aren't far enough to the left.
In this morning's San Francisco Chronicle, there appeared an interview with Brian FLemming who recently released a movie entitled "The God Who Wasn't There." Through his movie, he attempts to prove that Jesus did not exist but is a nothing but a myth.
The intro to the article states this is "a premise that might leave some hard-core Christians convinced this former Christian is going to hell." That is a violently strong reaction from those who disagree with him. Imagine, some hard-cores think he is going to hell. Not quite the same as helping him get there. I keep waiting for thugish mobs to pour out of the Vatican threatening beheadings.
As the article said, this film is "provacative." Why so? It will be embraced by the anti-religious as absolute proof, and dismissed as hyperbole by those who faith is strong. In the worst of social discord there may be some heated debate on both sides of the premise to convince the other of some fallicy of logic or fact.
My betting money is against Mr. Flemming doing a truly provocative movie denying the existence of Mohammed, or the image of Mohammed as the perfect man to be emulated for all time.
Islamic rules can only apply to Muslims, I think, not to me or any other non-Muslims.
Personally, I feel offended when Muslim extremist fly planes into skyscrapers, kills hostages, bomb schools and cry out fatwa's over anyone around the world, all in the name of Allah ?
- But it seems to some (alot), that 12 drawings is much worse.
In Denmark, we have freedom for all religions and freedom of speech.
In 1536, we had Reformationen, where the almighty power of the church was broken, it´s almost 500 years ago, and we are not going back to there, not even because of theads.
I seems however, that a lot of extremist Muslims think, it should be otherwise for our countrys.
The good outcome of this is however, that the big difference between civilizations has become an issue, even in Sweden, our “brother country”. Although websites are “closed down” in Sweden, for showing the drawings, it seems that many Swedish people are happy to be able to talk about this taboo issue.
Thanks to all for your support to our beloved country Denmark.

That is exactly how I feel about the situation. They don't think they are violent and hateful, but they sure do act that way.
